What does your husband do? Can't he look after your kids for a day?
I was kinda hoping he would be there with me when I go into labour but I guess if there's no other choice, I'll just have to have the kid alone.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Husband is a househusband. I work. I have already made provision for the maternity leave which will be about 8 weeks max - it's all we can afford anyway since work wont pay me.
I told you this wasnt planned....Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Given your circumstances, this seems the way to go.
How do you book a babysitter for an unknown time potentially in the middle of the night with little warning?Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

Hi, congratulationas and I hope it all goes well.
If I were you, I would prob leave kid no 3 with the inlaws for a week or two depending. Do kid no1 and 2 have close school mates where they could crash for a night. Let's say by 8 pm you realise this might be the night could they go over? If it happens during the day then they'll be in school and DH could nip home and pick them up or they could go home to a school mate if their parents are warned? Or as suggested, could one of your inlaws stay with you for a while.
I'm not too keen on home births myself. What if...Plus the kids would still need to be taken care off unless they can stay in their room for hours.
Hope it works out and good luck03/26: OD £1200 600 500, CC £3914 3317, family £3100, loan £5618 5306 5036- total: £13832 12323 12003, mortgage £58,243 £57,766 571140 -

When I said this wasnt planned, I meant it was a total surprise. I was made redundant from one job and had to find another and between those two dates, I conceived without realising.
Work wont pay me because I was pregnant one week BEFORE I started there. I understand I get something small from the government which I have to apply for directly, but I have no idea how to achieve this since I need written permission from my employer to do so. They are dragging their heels on it until I give them a MATB1. However, since my next midwife appointment is December I cant get one until then at 28 weeks. Which leaves about 12 weeks to inform the government and get them to pull their finger out. Frankly, I'm not even counting on that money to actually appear. I doubt it will anyway.Debt Free! Sadly, I dont know any of the children's friends parents well enough to impose on them like that. I think I'd be a bit put out too if the boot was on the other foot.
Does anyone have any actual experience of home birthing? I'm struggling to see any other option. If husband takes the kids over to the inlaws then I'll be alone for 2 hours minimum and potentially, have a risky situation where I am forced to labour alone without any help at all. I'm a believer in the power of nature, but I dont know of any sane woman who would want to be totally alone at that point.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it

These are my opinions.
Home birth - what happens if there is an emergency and you need to be taken to hospital suddenly, who looks after children then.
You have time to develop a trusting relationship with a paid helper, over the next four months you could create an environment where they come one or two days a week after school or at the weekend and help with your children understanding that you expect them to be available during and post birth when you need extra help.
Next option, explain to your doctor your situation and have a planned induction or caesarean.0
