There was a time early on in the relationship where he asked me to renew his car insurance whilst he was away. I tried, but it never worked
By the way, what do you mean that it didn't work? At which stage did it not allow to go further and what did it say?0 -
I find it totally amazing that you were able to find someone at the NEC Birmingham a short time after being told where he was. I can never find the person I,m looking for even after arranging to meet.0

I don't know if the OP is faking it or not but I'm fascinated - sounds like the plot for a novel so I'm going to be checking this thread regularly to find out what happens next£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

I would do what someone else said and track the car  i looked on auto trader and there is only 207 for sale in the UK! That is quite a rare car to have, unless he rented it every time he was seeing you... :eek:This is a system account and does not represent a real person. actually that part is not so hard to believe. I have a friend who has virtually no relations. her parents were both only children, and her parents and then had a lot of dificulties having children so she is an only child and born to them when they were fairly old to become parents. When she and I were at school together in our teens, the only relations she had were 1 of her 4 grandparetns, her parents and 1 great-aunt.
By the time she got married, when we were all 21, she had her dad and great aunt.
Now (we are in our early 40s) it's just her dad. She now has a husband and kids and a fair few in-laws, but had her parents died when she was a child she might easily have ended up in foster care, and would have been wholly without relations by the time she was in her early 30s.
Also, its possibel for someone to have no close relations. And if any cousins or uncles were unable to take on a baby they might easily have lost touch, or eneded up with no meaningful relationship with him as an adult.
Of course, in this instnance it is probabl more likley that OPs partner was lying but I don;t think that having no close relations is inherently unlikely.
I recall a woman I knew of (she was a service-user with the organisation i worked for at the time) from years ago. She had been in the care system and in and out of foster care as a child. She had a baby - her solicitors (who had known her for years) had a whip round and gave her a small gift and a card for the baby -it was the only gift she had. She had some relations, but no-one who had beenthere for her when she needed them as a child, and no one who was there for her baby when here was a risk of it being removed from her and placed for adoption. It's actually not uncommon for people to be left with no family, even if they have living bloood relations. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
OP, I feel very sorry for you. Sadly, guys like the one you have had the misfortune to meet, generally seem to prey on very nice ladies.
The guy has probably used a completely false name, but you could try looking at the Electoral Registers of various years. Find My Past have these records and if you would like me to take a look, please pm me the details of the guy and I would willingly check for you.0 -
My husband travels with work but if my sister saw him somewhere she would talk to him, not phone me and ask whether I knew he was back in town!0

Is this him....?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

We have all avidly read this thread, trying to work out what has happened. Oddly it took us all a few minutes or so to ask quite searching questions, to begin to make theories about his background, his work, his contacts.... it seems to have taken the OP 4 years, a baby and a hoped-for marriage to begin to question, as we all have (and her family, made up of mother, brother and sister, also surely must have similarly asked questions? I know I would be concerned about my sister's relationship with a man she apparently hardly knew anything about, especially if I felt she was naive or gullible; I'd want to get to know him for her sake).
Just the first conversations in a new possible relationship, in a bar or other social environment, would have been full of the natural 'searches'/ interests we all tend to rely on to 'place' this new person into our world and experiences. Think of how much you say when just walking with your new 'friend', whether in town, or further afield, and you'd be bound to meet friends and colleagues who would no doubt be interested enough (or just plain nosy) to build up quite a base of knowledge and/or shared experiences.
I hope the OP comes back as somehow this doesn't quite feel right...
And if it is true, something very odd has been going on (surely a professional under cover would have built a credible background, complete with believable contacts and friends, to the extent that a new partner would believe them implicitly? Having little to go on would inevitably make one more than just a little curious?).
More than likely, I just have a suspicious mindThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
My view is that he is already married and you were his second family. I know someone who had two completely different families who were both unaware of the fact for about fifteen years, it was only when a difficult situation arose that the truth came out.0
