Do you have any photos saved from his Facebook? All I'm thinking is, you could do a drop search with them on Google and if he's put them anywhere else online it'll bring it up (hopefully another Facebook page?)
Hope you get to the bottom of this, I can't even imagine how it must be
Yeah good idea!!! Google 'image search!'

Try that Shelly, if you have some pics of him.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

As you say BigAunty, the car must be registered with someone 'real.'
I don't drive so I don't understand about how/if there is any kind of verification when it comes to registering a car and so forth and how much scope a driver has to obtain a driving licence in another name, if its easy for all related car docs to relate to an alternative name or an address where the owner does not reside.0 -
Someone said about his accent. There was nothing in the way he spoke that could place him to a specific part of the country. He did not have a Brum accent though.
Not everyone who grows up in the West Midlands has a Brum accent. I've got friends who grew up in Birmingham itself but they don't have a specific accent.0 -
DVLA will release details of car ownership on application...

It isn't difficult to come up with a "suitable" reason.
So the Op should lie too?

A vehicle can be owned by someone but registered to anyone.
So I can buy a car, it is mine. I register it to my partner as she will be the main driver.
Registered keeper is not automatic owner.0 -
I'm not sure whether anyone has mentioned his phone? Was it PAYG or Contract? If the latter, it may be possible to trace the user - even if the number is no longer in use - and whatever his name.
When he was away, were you ever given any ''other'' numbers to contact him on?0 -
It's all very well playing armchair sleuths but it's entirely up to the OP.
She may feel it is worth looking for this man ...... and waste more time and energy on him .................or after reflection decide to close a door on the past- at least for now- and focus on brushing herself down and start moving forward. It's really a case of if finding him would give her closure or further inflame her wounds -and there's no right answer - we are all different.
That isn't to say that later on when she's feeling stronger she couldn't go after him for child support. She may even find that one day a piece of the puzzle pops into her head and gives her the lead or clue she needs to find him . Just for now finding him may not be the most important priority though.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

.
Six months down the line the OP has asked ''should I hire a detective?''. Various members have taken their time to help and in particular to explore the various options open to track down the rogue. As to ''playing armchair sleuths'' - well you are entitled to your opinion.0 -

But the thing is (and I think what BigAunty was getting at,) is that even if the car was not registered in the OP's ex's name or owned by him; the person who IS the registered keeper/owner may be able to lead the OP to him.Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

Registered to a company? If I was hiding out, that would be step one.
and registered in a trading name - no company's house checks then0
