  • I ordered 3 items on 3 January 2010 and they took my money on 4 January. The website said originally that dispatch to delivery would be 14 days on two of the items, 7 weeks on the other. I received 2 of the items on 17 March, the coffee table being damaged on one of the corners. Today their website quotes dispatch to delivery on the coffee table is 9 weeks and the TV unit I ordered (originally 7 weeks) is now a mere 3 weeks. I think they just think of a number! I've made several phone calls and contacted them by email. They have offered me £40 discount against the damage to the table which I have refused. Having waited so long, I'm going to keep it until they send a replacement. Goodness knows when the TV unit will be delivered.

Just saw this thread, and thought I'd add my experience of this company.

We had no problems whatsoever, the furniture (a bookcase and a large sideboard) are of excellent quality and well priced. The couriers were friendly and professional, and clearly explained once we'd unpacked the boxes what to do if anything was damaged, fortunately it was all spot on.

    I would use them again.

I bought a coffee table from them a couple of months ago which was ok.

I then ordered a lamp table (waited approx. 8 weeks for delivery) that arrived yesterday. I immediately realised it didn't suit the room so emailed to ask for a returns number and the reply was that it was going to cost £50 under the T&C of their 7 Day no quibble money back guarantee.

I'm not interested in their 7 Day no quibble money back guarantee as the product is covered by the Distance Selling Regulations - 3.22 onwards). I can arrange to have it sent back by courier for approx £11 (insured) so that is what I will be doing.

Any hassle at all and I will just refer it as a disputed transaction to the credit card company. I think the £50 "return charge" could even be described as a (illegal) penalty charge for a customer having the cheek to return any of their goods.

I am looking at doing the 20% deposit and interest free option as I am spending £1800. Am I stilll covered for the full amount from my credit card company even though i only paid the deposit?

I wish I had read all these remarks before using Oak Furniture. We bought an item which was quite badly damaged when it arrived though strangely the box it came in didn't even have so much as a tiny dent in it. We phoned and were asked if we could email photos which we were able to do. They offered us £60 which we refused so they arranged to send an independant assessor to view the damage. He came, viewed damage and agreed it was beyond satisfactory repair. A week later when we had heard nothing we phoned and were abruptly informed that we could either accept the £60 or return the item, replacing the item was not an option as it would be too expensive for them. They got the item back. We eventually received a full refund but only after having to phone again to find out why we had not received it. I dread to think how much its cost in phone calls as the after sales service is always busy - I wonder why. The quality of the furniture is good if its not damaged and the delivery/collection men were really nice. Would I buy from them again - never, their customer service is not customer friendly. Also they have a good rating on ebay under their other name but if you look at the feedback quite a lot of it seems to envolve the felt pads they sell that sticks to the furniture to protect flooring.

Sounds like some people are having nasties with Oak Furniture Land. All I can say is that I bought a room full of furniture from them last year as chosen by the artistic director (a.k.a. the missus) - all at a good price on their 0% deal.

We are delighted with the furniture, the delivery came on time and when I got in touch with them to tell them that some very small parts (shelf brackets) were missing they sent them by return of post.

I had a bad experience with them. Their after sales service is poor and requires so much information you will either give up or find you have invalidated your claim. I will not use them again.
  • I purchased 3 items from Oak Furniture Land on 15th February 2010 after finding a "great deal" on the website. When I read that the exclusive sale ended that day I quickly checked a couple of independent reviews online which were positive and jumped in and purchased the items.

Order confirmation stated despach to carrier on 15th March so after hearing nothing I chased the order that week and was told I was on a list to be called to be informed the delivery would be delayed by around a month. I received an email stating the same on 24th March. In the meantime, I checked the website a few times and those "exclusive bargain prices" remained the same which was irritating as I had felt a little pressured into buying based on the sale ending that night. Then I found that one of the items was actually reduced further so while still waiting for my products several weeks down the line, I called to complain and the person I spoke to was not apologetic for the long wait or the reduced price but did agree to refund my credit card. I then began to read reviews online regarding the quality of the products and saw some worrying experiences.

On 19th April I was advised the goods were passed to carrier and I was contacted to arrange delivery. I received a call, a text and an email which was all very efficient. The delivery arrived early as promised.

Having read about other people's experiences I explained to the carriers that we were supposed to open the products whilst they were present however thet said they didn't have time to wait and that cracks can appear any time within 24 hours so it wasn't worth it, which was a little worryig.

As instructed, we carefully opened the packaging (fearing the worst) but the goods were without faults and we are very happy with the materials.

Be wary of falling for "bargain prices" or feeling pressured to order before the sale ends as prices remain low and be aware that the delivery may be a long wait. We are happy with the quality but I am conscious that we need to care for the product in line with the care guidelines online - wasn't aware of this until I saw a post on MSE.

After waiting eight weeks for our furniture to arrive we opened the first item while the carrier was bringing in the second piece to find a huge crack.

On opening the second item found a large scratch down one of the doors even although the box was undamaged.

The other two items looked fine on initial inspection and the carrier took away the two damaged ones and said they had another delivery the following week and it may be possible to arrange replacements for them, as we had waited eight weeks already we were happy to wait another week for replacements.

It wasn't until after the carrier had gone and I was going to put on the door handles that I noticed the cracks close to the hinges, so I called Oak Furniture Land to arrange for the other damage items to be replaced also.

The sales person explained that replacing the four items was not possible so I asked for a full refund.

He asked me if I could send photos of the damages, which I did straight away using my digital camera, and that when they received them they would get back to me, still waiting.

I now have two very large boxes in my front room that you have to squeeze past to get to the dinning room and kitchen, and need to stand up to watch TV.

The furniture that came was stamped "Made in India", very shoody workmanship, joints lose everywhere and the finish was terrible, very far from the high quality furniture they say they supply.

The furniture units I have at the moment were flat pack from Argos about five years ago and are better qualitly the the ones delivered.

I wouldn't recommend using this company, especially as there are so many bad reviews and such bad furniture.

Will wait and see how much hassle to get my money back and how long it takes them to uplift the junk in my living room.

This company has made me formally register etc and post this

If everythng goes ok im sure they are fine, however as soon as something doesnt they dont care as they have your money!!!

I can only reiterate the post above - dont buy from them just in case things go wrong, which they seem to be doing quite frequently based on this site, just wish id read it before ordering!!

terrible customer service, and lies, and they say recommended by Phil Spencer, think he needs to take a look at this site!

£600 of furniture took 7 weeks to deliver, one piece arrived literally in pieces, the other had a hole drilled in the wrong place for a handle that they had filled and literally coloured in with what looked like felt tip. When I called to complain they blamed it on the manufacturers.

they missed the delivery date by 2 weeks and didnt call or follow up, waited in for delivery which was late.

Took over a week to collect the goods and said it would take upto 2 weeks to refund my money, I spoke to the person "in charge" stated this wasnt good enough and wanted my money back had now waited 8 weeks for goods and had no money to replace them. He said fine, call when goods collected and refund will be processed immediately and be in my account in 3-5 working days.

So on 18/5 I called when goods collected and was told refund processed in line with instructions. Called early this week and they said refund had been processed, and they werent sure why it hadnt reached my account. Called again today and they said refund was processed yesterday and will be in my account within 7 working days, which will actually take me over the 2 weeks it usually takes.

Spoke to the person "in charge" again and he had the cheek to say well the refund will be processed within 30 days which is what they are legally obliged to do.

Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT use this company :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
