mmm have mixed reviews. Bought some furniture in 2008 and was lovely. However recently bought a coffee table (jan 2010) and have had terrible trouble. After a month it developed a big crack in the wood, had to mess around with visits to inspect etc. Finally they agreed to an exchange, when i say finally they firstly refused and would only offer a refund. I was told that i would not be able to order any more products from them. When i asked why they informed me that as i was a new customer (which i wasn't!) they would not be able to 'make their money back from me'...bizarre customer service.
However, managed to get a new one sent, when it arrived it wouldn't go together, pre-drilled holes were in the wrong place. Had to go through all the inspection visits again. Chap who inspected it (Homeserve) said the legs sent did not go with the frame sent. We finally received a refund in May 2010.0 -
Hi,
I just thought I'd post my experiences for anyone considering using oakfurnitureland...
I placed an order in december for a dining table and chairs, sidebaord and 2 lamp tables. Not one of the items arrived in satisfactory condition - the chairs looked as if they had been damaged in transit, but the rest of the items were poorly made. I sent photos and they sent a repair company out. They fixed the lamp tables and chairs but couldn't sort the dining table or sideboard.
They refused to replace the items until I threatened to send all of it back. I waited 10 weeks for a replacement, which they assured me would be quality checked before despatch.
The items arrived and were damaged, so I have returned the whole lot. They're charging me £50 'restocking' fee for the lamp tables.
My advice would be to avoid dealing with them.
Thanks,
Neil0 -

wish i had read these reviews before purchasing grass/rattan dining chairs. They are shoddy and not as described. I have been receiving emails but they are giving me the run around asking for codes and photos that i have already supplied. They must have a huge black book of excuses!! They specialise in fobbing off, will never use them again. Can only suggest that you avoid.

I don't know why anyone is particularly surprised by Oakfurnitureland's shoddy service.
It's very simple and is given away in the name Oakfurnitureland and the most important bit AKA "Container clearance company"
Obviously most, if not all of the furniture arrives in containers, probably from the far east.
Far eastern workers are varied in their skillset, some good, some rubbish...In addition some of the furniture will get damaged in the containers in heavy seas.
It then gets to JB global(AKA Oakfurnitureland, AKA container clearance company, AKA whatever) at Cirencester...and at some point it gets to you.
As said before if all is well, then no problems, but if it isn't...
Oakfurnitureland don't want your furniture back, it's a loss as it is not cost effective to send it back to the manufacturers, even if they would accept it.
Oakfurnitureland will duck and dive, ask for photos and give you any number of excuses to either bore you into submission or just drive you insane in the attempt to get what you ordered in good condition in the first place.
Probably some of the workers have a conscience, but for the job it goes by the board, as you cant have a conscience over something which you aren't allowed to have any control over.
As usual the rot starts at the top, and filters down through the heirarchy to the front line worker who has to sell their soul to feed their kids.
I once went for a driving job with Oakfurnitureland, not only did they mess me around for months....thanks Trak Employment agency, but they had some pretty stupid ideas...I thought so anyway.
Two days ago I was driving round the north side of the M25 anticlockwise when I saw the selected drivers who were supposed to be 'better' than me, one in a 7.5 tonne and the other in a merc sprinter luton.
When they carried on straight into heavy traffic, I just zipped round back roads and left them for dead. I'd be willing to bet that I would have been the other side of Northampton long before they'd crawled their sorry asses as far as Rickmansworth.
Needless to say I was PMSL :rotfl:
So if your delivery is late you'll know why.
Better luck next time Oakfurnitureland.0 -
I ordered an oak unit on the internet, and had been starting to worry myself that it was this lot, after reading all of these threads. However, I realised my order was from a totally different company, www.oakfurnituresolutions.co.uk I did have to wait a while for it, and was starting to panic as I've never spent that much with an unknown company before, but it arrived yesterday and I'm so pleased with it. Don't know how prices compare, but I was very happy with them.0

I've ordered from this company three times.
- The first item I received as an oak sideboard with cheap rusty handles. The sideboard was relatively cheap so I replaced the handles at my own cost without making a fuss. The quality of the oak woodwork was poor but then I accept that you get what you pay for.
- The second order they delivered the wrong items which I refused to accept from the couriers as it was obvious from the packaging that it was not what I had ordered -it took a month and many emails and telephone calls to process my refund.
- The third item arrived damaged to the extend that it could not be used or repaired - it had obviously been dropped from a long way up. It took two weeks for them to collect the damaged item. They would not replace the item, but will refund in full. However, it has now been four months since they took my money and it will take another four weeks for the refund to arrive in my bank account. In the mean time the card I used to make the original payment has expired and has been replaced, so now they intend to pay my refund by cheque - which will probably add another six week to their payment.
Customer service is TERRIBLE, and some of their demands not lawful.
In future I will avoid this company like the plague. Better to pay a little more from a reputable dealer and you know what you're getting and have access to the dealer in the event things go wrong.0 -

I'm looking for their physical address - somewhere in Wiltshire, I think - to post a recorded delivery appeal to the Managing Director.
But then again, I don't know the name of the M.D. either, because the customer service manager refuses to give it.
I'm beginining to think their address should be Langley, Virginia.
Ilive near their warehouse, its in chippenham, wiltshire. Im pretty sure its the same company anyway
a friendgot stuff direct from the warehouse and was very pleased. I might go have a look0 -
I think I might have saved myself from making an error. I would have ordered t'night - with all the offers, and relatively mixed reviews elsewhere.
There are few positive reviews and a lot more bad experiences recorded here than elsewhere. So if oakfurnitureland arn't all that good, then which other retailers are? Even if pricier?
I am struggling to find something that I like, from a seller who is trustworthy online. Should I be looking for a local carpenter !?0 -
