I cancelled my order with Oak Furniture Land (item oos for several weeks) so I can't comment on actual items, delivery, etc. I can however say that they were very helpful and refunded the money back to me very quickly.
  • I recieved a sideboard and console table from them the other day. They use their own drivers and delivered when they said they would. Excellent service for me and would be happy to use again.
  • I can't recommend this company enough. We bought a beautiful, heavily discounted sideboard from them. The customer service was excellent, as were the drivers. The sideboard is such great quality, I would defintely buy from them again. Got quidco too!

We bout 3 bedrrom drawer sets from Oakfurnitureland. One set had drawers which did not fit and kept falling off the runners. However with photgraphic proof this was quickly replaced. We then looked for a sideboard but OFL did not have a style we liked so bought one from Oakfurnituresolutions. After a few weeks the side panels started to separate from the uprights - it was clear they had been made too narrow to fit properly into the rebates. On contacting I 'soluntions' was asked if I had treated the unit with anything - I said no as we had only had it a few weeks. Their reply was that I should have done and this invalidated the guarantee! To cur a long story short I pointed out that this was not a 'guarantee' issue, under the SOG Act the company had to prove that the item was not inherently faulty. They sent out a wood engineer who agreed the unit sould not be repaired. 'Solutions' then offered to have it repaired! I refused and, to be fair, they arranged rapid uplift and refund. Gues what - we bought a replacement unit from Oakfurnitureland and have had no problems with it (as yet). BTW how do you care for this stuff? Beeswax or 'Danish Oil' (whatever that is!)
  • If it is true hardwood then you need do nothing at all, the furniture needs a certain amount of time to 'adjust' to its environmental conditions.
If you have no idea about far eastern furniture to be honest you should not buy it, this is not being mean, but simply it isn't as straightforward as UK built furniture and may require some work to make proper.

Some of it isn't brilliant, but most of it is salvageable with a little time and effort.

It's just the companies that are truly crap.

I used these a year ago, waited more than 3 weeks before cancelling, found an alternative piece at the childrensfurnitureandtoycompany.co.uk, and arrived within 4 days!

I've heard good things about oak furniture land elsewhere though, and they have lots of good reviews on their site. I must have just been one of the unlucky ones, but got a little impatient!

I was rather sceptical about Oakfurnitureland, partially due to the fact that their prices seemed too good to be true. After placing an order with them for over £1000 though, I have to admit I was being rather unfair. The order was for an oak dining room dresser, a hall storage/display unit and a TV stand/storage unit. As the order reached their £1000 threshold I was eligible for a huge free mirror too. The items were received about 6 weeks after placing the order, admittedly not the quickest if you're impatient (or paranoid about them going bust), but it gave me time to make some necessary preparations. Apparently the furniture is made in China incidentally, (they're quite upfront about this when asked). For anyone living nearby, they have showrooms in Cheltenham, Chester and Stockport, so you can what you're buying beforehand. The quality is pretty darned good actually, and there was no damage whatsoever on delivery. The items were all very well packaged and the delivery crew were excellent; they even helped me carry some old furniture down to my cellar. I gave the items a thorough look over immediately, and my main criticism of the furniture was an element of 'roughness', particularly exposed edges; you could easily catch a splinter when rubbing your fingers along. I spent a few hours rubbing down ALL exposed edges with fine sandpaper to soften them a bit. It really was well worth the effort. After this was completed I can honestly say the design, craftsmanship, finish and overall effect is most impressive. I'd guess that the principal units are about half the price of high street shops. I admit that some of the semi-concealed areas are a bit basic, but hey, what the heck?. It's over a month now since delivery and there's no sign of movement or other problems. Incidentally I saved £50 courtesy of Myvouchercodes (and was also lucky enough to have placed my order before the VAT increase kicked in). I have no affiliation to the company, but as I inferred previously, I am most impressed. I'd reckon that most of their customers are quite happy with their purchases, but the minority who HAVE had problems are most likely to be found venting their spleen on the Internet. I'd take the risk if I were you.

...and they googled and found this thread, and registered JUST to leave this post, what a very happy customer they must be to go to so much trouble!

Having said that, I have bought an oak dining room table and chairs from them (only after seeing it in the flesh in a showroom first) and im reasonably happy with it, its not perfect, but then given the reviews I saw before hand I was prepaired that I may have to return it. However they are minor imperfections and im happy to live with them.

Came packaged much better than I thought it would (some reviews say furniture is damaged due to poor packaging from their importers, so I was lucky). They used their own vans and drivers, arrived pretty much on time and kept informed of delivery date.

Looking at reviews it tends to be the dark/mango wood items, particularly if it has drawers, that tend to be the problem.

There you go, a real customers experience! HTH
