  • Do yourself a favour and get your oak furniture locally as this company will just mess you about. THEY ARE COWBOYS JUST INTERESTED IN TAKING YOUR MONEY.

We used them once and the service??? terrible!

Firstly the offer of quick delivery in days.... can turn into months.

Secondly the delivery company operatives were the rudest I have ever come across. One actually swore and was insulting.

Thirdly they dont want you to inspect the delivered goods when they deliver, just sign to accept the parcels. Any damages or mismatches to be sorted out later.

Fourthly, they demanded I sign the form down in the lobby BEFORE THEY DELIVERED TO THE ACTUAL FLAT ADDRESS

When you complain IN WRITING as they asked me to, they totally ignore all further emails and phone calls.

I am totally disgusted with their attitude AND STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO SHOP ELSEWHERE.

We used a local company to supply more units, and THEY WERE CHEAPER AND DELIVERED THAT SAME WEEK.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE OR AT YOUR COST

  • We bought a pale oak coffee table in January 2008 and for the price were reasonably happy with it. Having now moved house we decided to add the side tables and TV units to complete the room. We made 2 orders one on 23rd |April and the second two days later. First order to be delivered between 15-25 May and the second 18-28 May. On 17th May we received a call from the company advising that delivery of the second order was now delayed until 21st June but would we like to buy special furniture polish! On 19th May we phoned them to ask where the first order was as the delivery date was overdue. Sarah told me that it was delayed until 24th June, and although they had known this since 16th May they had a huge list of customers to contact and we were well down the list but they would have got to us eventually. As we had two orders to the same address why couldn't they have advised about both in the one phone call on 17th May? They have over £800 of our money and I feel that they operate on a shoe string. They probably wait until they have sufficient paid for orders to fill a container before placing a firm order with their supplier. I will never deal with then again. If we can find something we like which will fit in with the existing coffee table at John Lewis or similar we will cancel our order and ask for our money back. You get what you pay for. There are laws which govern distance selling and they seem to be trying to side step them, reading other postings. I have contacted Watchdog in the hope that they find enough discontent to warrant exposure on their programme.

I ordered items in December that should have arrived in April. They didn't. The company only decided to tell me that they would not be coming around the time they should have arrived. I was told that the items would arrive in another four weeks and assured I would not be fobbed off again.
The date given came and went so I contacted them again. They told me that they had the furniture and that it would be passed to the carrier within two days...the online tracking showed that they had been passed to carrier two days later but a week after that, I still had not been contacted.
I then emailed them and was told they would find out what was happening by the end of the day and let me know. They didn't and have ignored further emails. I have paid in full for my items but that seems to make no difference whatsoever. When I queried something on my order a few months ago, I was told by the trainee Office Manager that they were 34 in the list of fastest growing British companies and didn't really need my custom. I suppose I should have realised then that customer service wasn't high on their agenda.
Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

My wife and I visited the Chester showrooms, A very pushy salesperson attended to us. We decided to buy a Mahogony sideboard which we paid for in the showroom. The salesperson told us we needed a tin of wax piolish as well. When a month later the sideboard was delivered the delivery men from Oakfurnitureland just left it and would not wait while I unpacked it. When it was unpacked the top was marked and dented, At the corner it showed a much lighter wood through the varish (Was it really solid mahogony or some other wood just stained?) the centre cupboard had a shelf that when fitted prevented the doors closing and all the drawers were such a bad fit that when pulled out they could be moved side to side some 4 inches. The whole item was in a very poor condition. We immediately contacted the aftersales dept. and were told they needed photographic proof of the problems. I sent off a series of photos by email within the hour. I then phoned them to make sure they had received them. I was told that the full refund was agreed and that their carriers would collect the item. This they did the following week when an unmarked van with two large men arrived to collect the item. They had a very aggressive attitude. They had no identification, refused to sign a receipt that they were taking the item away which I had prepared, they had no paperwork for me as proof that they had taken away the item. They insisted I sign their paper saying they had not damaged our property so I insisted on copying that piece of paper. I complained about this and got no responce from Oakfurnitureland. Since then we have had repeated promises that the refund would be in our account within 3 days, then 5 days , then 7 to ten day, then were told Chester would have to process it and when we phoned Chester we were told it was being done as we spoke to them (They claimed they had 30 days to repay). Still nothing happened. It was after waiting some further days that I contacted trading standards and got some advise. We then phoned again and told them they were in breach of contract and that unless the money was repaid immediately we would take them to the County Court.
At last this has made them repay the £514. I certainly would not deal with company again. They just want to take your money and when the item is faulty make it hard to get your money back. They held on to our money for some length of time. The item they delivered was not fit for the purpose intended. I can not understand why this company is not being investigated by trading standards and watchdog and is allowed to continue trading in such a disgracful manner. The furniture when deliverd is not the same quality you see in their showrooms and is so very badly manufactured. They dont even check it before delivering it to customers.
My advise to all thinking of going to this company is be aware of the problems and shop around. The sale they advertise is false. The salesman who dealt with us told us the higher price is what a similar item would be sold for in another store. Can this be legal?
  • Oak Furniture Lands claims in their advertising are false - all the reductions are totally fabricated.

The truth is their furniture is produced from very low grades of oak wood where the better timers are such American White Oak , OFL use far lesser timbers.

The quality is very poor compared to what you can find if you search about properly.

When we ordered our furniture from OFL I was appalled by the quality and after the intervention of trading standards thank fully got my money back but was determined to dig a little deeper into the background of them What i found was that their claims from delivery to quality are not accurate at all.

do yourself a favour check out the quality yourself first by visiting one of their stores and compare it to what you can get from your independent retailer especially if you shop about .

Stay clear folks is my advice.

I would agreed. Beware of the company. The furniture is of very low quality. The sideboard that we ordered was to be Mahogony. What was delivered was certainly not mahogony but some other cheap wood that had been stained to try to make it look like Mahogony. It did not have the traditional Mahogony grain finish. This staining had been very badly done and the much lighter wood showed through. The shelves were rough and not finished to a smooth condition. Why is this company allowed to trade like they do and why are Trading Standard not doing something about this.
  • I would highly recommend that you do not buy anything from Oak Furniture Land.

To add some balance to this review I would like to say that some friends of ours bought furniture from them a few years ago and the quality was excellent. This is why we were so confident in buying six items from them. Unfortunately when they were delivered all five where made of poor quality wood and by extremely poor carpenters. All six were shoddily put together and arrived in a terrible state. Needles to say we requested that all the items were collected and the order cancelled.

This, unfortunately, was the start of the real issues. The order was cancelled on 24/06 and we supplied numerous photos of the issues, collected on 01/07 and yet we are still waiting for our refund. It is now 25/07. We have been fobbed off with stories such as ‘we have changed our bank account and so refunds where cancelled by our bank’ and have not received return calls/emails when promised them.

I would deduce that this is a company in serious problems who have resorted to employing sub-standard staff, buying in lower quality materials and are having serious financial difficulties.

I would highly recommend that you pay that little bit extra and get something of value for money fro one of OFL’s many competitors.

Thank you for your 'review' sophie, although Im bewildered why you would need to order your furniture online, as there is a showroom right near you in Cheltenham! Mmmm.:rotfl:

OFL would do much better by improving the quality of their products and customer service than doing their own reviews (I have been a customer, so I can say that!)
  • Ordered some mahogany furniture. Stuff that came was virtually black rather than red! They then waffled on for months trying to deny they in the wrong by showing red furniture but selling something that is blackish. They refused to do anything.... so here comes the cavalry.....credit card company, trading standards or whatever
