Thank you for your 'review' sophie, although Im bewildered why you would need to order your furniture online, as there is a showroom right near you in Cheltenham! Mmmm.:rotfl:
OFL would do much better by improving the quality of their products and customer service than doing their own reviews (I have been a customer, so I can say that!)
How curious, 'Sophies' complementary post seems to have disappeared! Now my post makes no sense! Never mind!0 -
I placed an order for £4500 of furniture with them in June but they won't deliver because a £300 bookcase is late even though everything else is in the warehouse. I can cancel the bookcase but that will take over a week then the delivery company have 5 days to contact me, then it'll take another few weeks before they can schedule the delivery etc etc etc. The moral of this story is don't order anything from them unless you have lots of time as they're not prepared to do anything to provide a good service even though I paid them £900 almost 2 months ago. They'll dleiver when it suits them and not you !!! So we'll have to wait another month with an empty dining room and an empty bedroom and the rest of the house in a mess just to suit Oak Furnitureland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

Looking for some new bedroom oak furniture. 3 door wardrobe, double bed, 1x bedside table and dresser+mirror all @ £1600. I like the look of what I have seen at oakfurnitureland.co.uk product wise. But am very nervous due to some experiences here.
I'm in the Feltham/Hampton area of SW London. Anybody know of any local alternatives. All the Best0 -
There are lots and lots of companies on the web but all seem to sell pretty much the same stuff. Oak Furniture Direct sold a bed to my in laws recently and they are very happy. Or try oakcellar.co.uk they are sometimes willing to show you the items before you even pay them ! ( only if they are in the area I think ). And I believe they do their own deliveries so they can't blame dodgy couriers.0

Ordered on sun 28 Aug on line.
Due to negative feedback on this forum checked out quality at showroom first and used credit card for purchase, also scaled down order just in case. Items arrived Weds 1 Sept. No damage, all OK so pleased with purchase and price. Bought nest of tables (3) and lamp table for total of about £250
So not all bad.0 -
Both me and my friend have both had a bad experience with receiving damaged furniture from oakfurnitureland and had a complete nightmare returning it.
In the end we decided to go for a company called Direct Interiors - directinteriors.co.uk that deal in similar 100% solid oak products at a very similar price some were in fact a lot cheaper.
They proved to be a lot better and the furniture we received was wonderful. The finish was excellent completely maintenance free rather than having to oil and wax numerous times a year and it was all properly made, dovetailed etc. Would highly recommend.0 -
Well... I've ordered from them and will have to see what I get - hopefully its going to be good I hate disapointment.
Working for an Ombudsman service myself I knew about the Furniture Ombudsman but for those who have complaints and want refunds or orders chasing up you may want to consider contacting them. The forum won't let me post a link because I am newbut if you google furniture Ombudsman their website comes right up.
There is also a link on the companies website!
I am not sure what their processes are as such but with the schemes I work with there should be a complaints proceedure in place with the company which you will have to follow first and if not resolved then you can take it to the Ombudsman. Equally if they refuse to give the address or details of the complaints proceedure usually the Ombudsman can use 'discretion' and accept the complaint without you following the usual proceedure.
I know my scheme's rules consider a complaint to be a verbal or written expression of disatisfaction but the standard line and for easier investigation they may ask you write a letter/e-mail titled formal letter of complaint to the firm first and wait for a response.
Hope this helps0 -
We bought 3 items from Oak Furniture after looking in their Milton Keynes store. When it arrived all 3 items were defective, only quality control issues though. We phoned & then took photos. They agreed to collect furniture which they did within the time frame that they gave us & then refunded us within a week. It's a shame they can't get the quality control up to standard0

I placed an order with Oak Furniture Land after saving for one year to purchase your expensive furniture. The table arrived with SIGNIFICANT impact damage which had clearly occurred in transit. Minutes after receiving the faulty order, I called the contact centre to express my dissatisfaction. At this stage, I expected a sincere apology and a promise to deliver a replacement item in a timely manner, perhaps even with compensation to apologise for my inconvenience.
Instead, I was faced with an unsympathetic individual who told me to send evidence of the damage so that they could "assess the damage" and establish if a repair was possible. Following this, they decided that a repair would be just fine, and assured me that someone would be out to fix it soon. I was adamant at this stage that the damage was far too significant to be repaired, but nonetheless they referred me (yet again) to your outrageous terms and conditions - they, apparently, reserve the right to repair. Please also note that at this stage I decided to return the faulty item and they kindly told me that you "could not accept another order from me if this was the case".
Absolutely exhausted at the runaround I had been subjected to, we then succumbed to the pressure and agreed to allow them to effect a repair. I arranged a holiday from work today to wait at home for Homeserve. The representative arrived, took one look at the damage and declared that he "does not have a magic wand".
I'm sure I don't need to express just how angry I am now, particularly as I knew from the moment I looked at the damage that it was irreparable. I am absolutely fuming with the organisation and at my wit's end.
I have sent them a firm but fair email and await their response, but in the meantime I wanted to advise other unsuspecting customers to be aware that if they place an order with this company, there is a very real chance that it will arrive damaged and they will do anything possible to avoid replacing it.0 -
I purchased 3 items of furniture from Oak Furnitureland. Whilst the delivery timescale was acceptable and the communication from the deliver company was good I cannot say the same about the quality of the furniture nor the appalling after sales. 2 of the 3 items were damaged AND had basic defects that should not have been 'passed' by quality control. The aftersales service was one of the worst that I have ever experienced. Ignored emails.....promises made to return phone calls etc. EVENTUALLY I flooded the company with NUMEROUS emails and EVENTUALLY was able to speak with someone that provided some action. I sent emails via the companies 'complaints' section of their website AND directly.....all ignored!! Defects = dents/scratches/bad finishing/skew whiff hinge/sub quality materials/hinge placed in incorrect position...replaced.....previous hole left.....I have considerable furniture related experience and certainly would not have put my name to the 'quality control' pass labels. Finally I accepted £50 compensation & restored the items myself rather than continue to deal with the company. Subsequently I gave the opportunity for a member of management to review the experience and send a letter of apology...I received 2 telephone calls stating that a letter would be sent....nothing arrived....I gave a further opportunity for a written apolology...Of course....nothing received...hence this review. Furniture quality aside....the aftersales was quite simply HORRENDOUS.0
