    Hi All,
We bought a Oak extending table and eight chairs.

We got a call within a couple of weeks (the item was quoted as being between 6 and 8 weeks delivery time) to say that they had the items and wanted to confirm that someone would be available when it was delivered as the delivery company only has the driver in the vehicle.
This was fine and I was told I should hear from the delivery company soon.

I rang back weekly to see when I would hear from them but was always fobbed off with some answer. The staff were always very pleasant and helpful but we tended to be told that it was ready to go so should hear from the delivery company in the next few days and this didn't happen.
Anyway we did eventually get the item delivered (within the 6-8 weeks I must add) but was a bit miffed that we were contacted so early and then didn't recieve the item for about 4 weeks after.

This is a gorgeus table and chairs but it did have a dent on it and one of the leaves didn't line up properly.

After a bit of two-ing and fro-ing we came to an amicable agreement and, all in all, we are happy with our purchase.

We also found a 5% off voucher and went through quidco (which tracked and paid quite quickly) so got an extra few quid off as well.

Would I buy from OakFurnitureLand again ?

    Yes.. definitley.

    HTH

a little worried when i read about oakfurnitureland as I'd just made a big order but everything went really well. All the furniture turned up 21 days later.
It was very well packed and I was very pleased with my purchases. No dents or scratches. The delivery drivers rang me before they arrived and turned up half hour later.
One item was a large sideboard and I had to cut the packing to get at it so I was very glad there were no issues.
Very heavy so I had to "borrow" some neighbours to shift everything in position.
Would certainly use the company again...:j

They have a sale on but only until Monday 3rd August 11am. Some items up to 75% off. I've never looked before so I don't know how genuine their sale is. Hope it helps someone but my purse is staying in my bag as I'm being good.

We ordered furniture from them which arrived on Friday. One piece (a desk) wouldn't fir through the door, despite being advertised on their website as being 70cm wide and our doors (we measured are 75cm wide at the narrowest point where the handles are. Delivery guys were really unhelpful and refused to take it out of the packaging to get it through.

The other two pieces, a table and a sideboard were badly damaged. The table appeared to have been so sloppily assembled that there were sharp pieces of wood and nails sticking out. The sideboard top had obviously been dropped at some point and was badly bashed in at one corner.

I've now got to spend tomorrow phonong and confirming in writing that we will be rejecting the goods and asking for a full refund.

    I'd definitely say avoid them.

I bought a coffee table from them a couple of months ago which was ok.

I then ordered a lamp table (waited approx. 8 weeks for delivery) that arrived yesterday. I immediately realised it didn't suit the room so emailed to ask for a returns number and the reply was that it was going to cost £50 under the T&C of their 7 Day no quibble money back guarantee.

I'm not interested in their 7 Day no quibble money back guarantee as the product is covered by the Distance Selling Regulations - 3.22 onwards). I can arrange to have it sent back by courier for approx £11 (insured) so that is what I will be doing.

Any hassle at all and I will just refer it as a disputed transaction to the credit card company. I think the £50 "return charge" could even be described as a (illegal) penalty charge for a customer having the cheek to return any of their goods.

You are totally right Llyllyll, they are not allowed to charge a restocking or admin fee which so many try to get away with charging. Stick to your guns!

Oh dear, beginning to wonder whether I should have placed a large order with this company now.

I've been looking at this company for a while now & prior to placing my order I wrote to them to get some reassurance regarding the quality of their products after reading this thread. In total I sent 4 e-mails to them, all of which remain unanswered.

Despite receiving no replies, I took the plunge as their sale was just about to end & I didn't want to miss out on the sale prices. What I have noticed though is that as soon as the sale ends it is entended for a limited period, that expires & then it's extended again & again & again! The current 'promotion' ends tonight at 8pm (Wed 12 Aug) but I lay money on it that its extended again.

Anyway, since placing my order on 27 July 2009, I have heard absolutely nothing from the company. I know that the lead times on the items I purchased show as 6-8 weeks but I would have expected communication of some kind, whether it be a courtesy telephone call or e-mail to keep me informed especially after spending £1300 with them.

At this present moment after reading all the posts on here, I am seriously considering cancelling the order as I simply don't need the hassle especially after having recently had a very bad experience with another online furniture retailer.

    I'll keep you informed!

We spent a lot of money almost £3,000 on this website, ordering several pieces of furniture.
We took a chance because we ordered on line.
We are absolutely thrilled with our solid oak furniture.
One sideboard was slightly damaged at the back and they offered us 20% refund, which we were happy to accept as my husband had already repaired it rather than have the hassle of returning it and getting another one(they are extremely heavy).
After sales person was really helpful.
We would recommend this web site to our friends and family.

    To Joey0027:
We too heard nothing from them for several weeks. Then we had a phone call on the Tuesday to say our order will be delivered on Friday!!
Hope you are as pleased as we are with your goods.

I recently ordered a Chunky Oak table from oakfurnitureland. After reading these posts I was a little nervous, however I would like to tell you of my experience which may be of help.

    1. Ordered online after having a terrible experience with John Lewis direct - a sideboard, table and 4 chairs were ordered for over £1,500. 2 Chairs were delivered fine, everything else was damaged. They gave us 10% off the sideboard and we returned 2 tables as they were in a poor condition. The chair situation hasn't been resolved.

    2. So I ordered a table from oakfurnitureland as the prices are at least half of what you would pay in a retail estate shop or John Lewis. Obviously I used a credit card, as you should always do for full protection with online and distance selling (various acts protect you - Credit Acts, Distance Selling Acts etc - in fact you have more protection online than in a face to face transaction!).

    3. Confirmation email was received giving an estimate of 2 weeks for delivery.

    4. A very polite phone call received a week later from despatch people saying delivery woudl be on Monday between 12 and 4.

    5. At approx 1pm on Monday a phone call received to say delivery would be in 10 minutes.

    6. Delivery made by 2 people. They very politely offered to place the package in the dining room and offered to remove their shoes. The delivery guy explained that they worked directly for oakfurnitureland and gave me a flyer with the customer service number should their be any problems (having read previous posts this rang alarm bells).

    7. I unpacked the legs and checked thoroughly. One leg had a very small scuff on it that can only be seen if you look for it and know where it is. I unpacked and checked the table top. Absolutely perfect. Very happy. As is my wife, who is notoriously fussy about these things.

    8. I am now using the table as I post this. I would personally recommend to a friend, although I would always ensure they order using a credit card, just in case.
