Whose idea was it to go to Berlin? I think these stag and hen parties abroad are asking a bit much of friends and family already without having to pay for the stag or hen as well.

A friend of mine got married a couple of years ago and had a 7 day stag party in Ibiza. He paid for his own flights, accommodation, etc but there were some very cheesed off wives and girlfriends as their OHs had used so much annual leave and left their holiday funds short.
  • Absolutely not. It's kind enough you're paying for his flight and hotel. A firm "no" to his Mrs-to-be.

On the positive, Berlin is a great city and an ideal destination for an autumn weekend away.

    No you shouldn't
  • There seems to be an increasing trend for people to say nothing when they really want to say 'no'. The thoughtless people who make unreasonable assumptions that other people's priorities and means to achieve them are the same as their own also assume that the answer will always be 'that's fine with me'. A polite refusal simply stating that your cannot attend an event abroad but would be delighted to attend the wedding should not cause offence - just wait then for the bride's very specific and very expensive wedding presents list to arrive......................

I would have no issue chipping in for this but if I were told we were paying then I'd be saying sorry cannot be bothered to go due to your missus barking orders about us paying.

No. And no to such extravagant stag dos.

Little wonder young people can't afford to buy a house if this is typical of their spending.
