Bob bad news about your business rent, how annoying.

Well harvest festival went as expected, lovely to see little guy singing his head off but those chairs and my back caused so much pain last night.

Today managed to finally dye my hair just couldn't do it last few nights with sciatica. Feel so much better with no roots.

Did some shopping today, spent more than I budgeted for. £30 in total between couple of shops. Not sure how I managed to get to till in poundstetcher with both of my hand covered in blood!!! Halloween come early, had to run to wash my hands, think it was only a paper cut but everywhere.

Gutted Wales lost the rugby so deserved to win.

Dolly your so fit, I tried a walk this afternoon but got stopped by so many people chatting asking where my dog was, standing still bit made my back worse. So no great distance covered.

  • Oh Bob- what a pain about the rent... :( Sorry to see this.
I've been quietly and totally broke in the background. Chalking up nsd after nsd because I don't have any money to spend, or any time to spend it. Still busy with another week to go until half term and another fortnight until payday. Ah well - we can't spend what I haven't got.
Big batch cook planned for tomorrow. Corned beef hash (good old favourite), stuffed peppers, and burgers with parsnip chips.
  • crazy cat lady although having no money is unpleasant, it really highlights what we actually NEED in life rather than want, and i always surprise myself at how well we get by with practically nothing some weeks.
Still here..... but working on that!
  • Totally true. The car has fuel, we have food, and there's nothing that can't wait until payday. :D

    Morning

Calling - you poor thing. You've been in the wars doubly with your papercut too. Hope you can rest today.

CCL - enjoy your batch cooking today.

LittleSkintDragon - I hear you on that one..it is amazing how little you can manage on. When needs must. But it isn't fun to live that way for long I've found. It leaves a bit of a mark too. I recently had to buy a new pair of trainers as mine had fallen apart. And I felt so guilty as I could have spent the money on debt repayment or something else that I felt more important but at the end of the day the amount of walking I do it makes no sense to bugg3r up my back by walking around in worn out shoes. The day I am able to spend money on myself without that feeling can't come too soon.

Anyway not the best night. Little lady was up for a huge chunk of it from around 2 am to 5. We have a hospital appointment a couple of miles away at 9.30 so I plan to walk there with her in the buggy for the fresh air and exercise. They are going to sign us off from the community midwives as she has gained enough weight for them to be satisfied. Other than that not much happening chez Bob today. I bought DS a £2 pumpkin from Mr S that him and his dad will carve this afternoon so that will be a nice cosy activity and if I make it to Downton without falling asleep I will be satisfied today. Low expectations :)

    Have a good one all.

    Bob

Bob - you should definitely hold off on the cycling or you may end up doing more harm than good.

LSD - Well done on resisting the phone contract, I could never imagine paying £40/month for a phone.

Bob - that is annoying about your rent but it sounds like you have accepted it and moved on which is the best way to deal with it.

CCL - As long as you have the basics covered financially you will get by, I do hope things start to look up for you soon.

Calling - sorry to hear your back is still bothering you, if you need to go to a school event like that again ask the school for one of the staff's chairs.

I went to DS's Harvest Festival at church on Friday, at the end of it without any warning the vicar asked for donations for a family in Tanzania. All I had with me were the car keys, he was asking for £5 from what he said and told us how much a church up the road had raised at their Harvest. I had to sneak past him and his basket in the doorway whilst he was distracted, loads of other people were saying they had no money with them. If I'm honest though I'm done with charity donations this month and do get fed up of being constantly asked to donate - in the street, at school, on my own doorstep.

Quiet day here I think, DS has gone to his football match now, DD is riding later and I will get out for a run. I would like to try and get some Christmas/kids birthday presents but don't really want to go to the shopping centre and open the temptation floodgates but I will have to at some point.

    Have a good day all.

  • dolly old me wouldnt have thought twice about it! Hence being here, so it was a big step when i resisted temptation and said no :)

bob you're so right, i feel guilty if i even need a new bra, or some underwear. I often wonder how well off i'll need to be to stop those feelings. Then i think of my gran, who's in her 80's and spent her life bringing up my dad with barely anything as my grandad wasnt around a lot. She still buys things like value tooth paste, and a lot of our xmas/bday pressies are quite obviously from cheaper shops/£1 shops. Despite the fact that she had a really good retirement pay out and financially is now really well off. Quite sad really that now she has it she cant enjoy it!
Still here..... but working on that!
  • Haven't had chance to get on here the last few days. Bob- glad your enjoying your new arrival, n you have the business rent sorted. Calling next time ask for a normal sized chair.

Wednesday, Thursday n Friday were nsd for me. Struggling with tech free days.

Thanks Dolly. I agree about charity donations..I had just got in from the school run about a month ago and the door went I answered it and a man started to come into the porch I literally snapped his head off with 'is this charity stuff ' he gave me such a filthy look and said 'yes' & 'I said I've just come in from the school run!' And shut the door. I felt bad afterwards but !!!!!! sometimes you need people to respect boundaries.

LittleSkintDragon -my husbands Uncle who has now passed was a real miser in the truest sense. He kept his wife short for years but would buy himself expensive fishing tackle. Or ask her to provide expensive food items for dinner for him whilst she ate low grade food and so did the kids. After he died they found unopened pay packets all over the house. And it turned out they had loads in his own accounts. The good news is unlike your relative, she is having a wonderful life. Aged 80 she goes off on trips to Scotland, The Netherlands etc with a companion and a charity group. She buys herself nice food and clothing and for the first time in her life is really happy. But she still tells us stories of how she raised her 4 kids and her daughters son on a shoe string. So many wonderful women in this country.

Dizzy- well done on your NSDS. And thank you.
