Edit
Okay, I've had a look again, the account is locked for up to 12 weeks whilst EON inform you of the switch. Next time i will be more careful in checking CEC has updated my details / updated them when I've updated them.
There's still the question, why wouldn't CEC give me a quote including my (then) current tariff because i DID enter that information when comparing tariffs?
Yes that's right. We'll update your account in a few weeks once Eon formally confirm your switch to us.
We'll reply to your email directly, but having replicated your account, I can confirm that we did show you the breakdown on your account so you had the option of whether to compare savings against your i) current fix, ii) the standard tariff, or iii) Ofgem's blended rate.
Hope this helps.0 -
Thank for your response As you have said you will adjust my DD if needed.
I do read my meter and put readings in which does update my account.
My readings for the past year are 10% less than the previous year.
When I went on to the latest M&S fix last year I was asked to just pay £79 per month but I told them I wished to go on paying the £84 from the previous year
I was overpaid and refunded.
I think a lot of elderly people like me are scared that they will be confronted with a huge bill.
The information you have given me reassures me .
I received an email yesterday and I have set up an account online and activated it
All seems to going ahead to plan. Thanks again for your response. Sue0 -
I signed up to switch from the previous E.ON collective tariff to the new E.ON collective tariff.
Signed up this morning, received my confirmation email from the Cheap Energy Club almost straight away, received confirmation from E.ON this afternoon and my smart meter is already showing the new rates. All done inside 8 hours. Very, very impressive.
Glad all went well The Hawk. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to post. I've a meeting next week with the managers of our support teams and it'll be good to share this with them.
Don't forget about the Rewards scheme too. It's free and you can earn points to exchange for either Tesco Clubcard points or High Street Shopping Vouchers.
Thanks again.

I opriginally had my gas with British Gas and Electric with Eon.
I have done the switch to Eon duel fuel, got an email saying change of tarrif for electric and another email welcome to eon for my gas with a different account number.
Will these get combined once the switch is complete, or will it remain as two accounts and two direct debits?
Hi robj20 and welcome to the Forums.
As it stands, the gas will switch as a separate fuel with its own account number. This happens when fuels come to us at different times as in your case. Don't worry, we can link the two together.
If you register with our website, this can be done online. Either through the 'Change Your Details' option or by registering the gas with the same username and password as the electric. You can also phone, email, tweet or post on our facebook page and we'll do it for you. Alternatively, drop an email to the address in my Profile. I'll be happy to sort it.
It's better the accounts are linked as this will make sure you receive the discount (£20 per year) for taking both fuels. This isn't usually a problem but best to be sure. Don't forget, too, the discount for registering online for paperless billing (£5 per fuel per year).
Hope this helps robj20.

Hi Sue
Glad my earlier post was re-assuring. I agree, lots of people and not just the elderly are concerned their payments cover what they use. This was one of the reasons behind the 'Direct Debit Manager' I mentioned in my previous post. It's a way customers can keep on top of their accounts.
It looks like you're already on top of things Sue but, if you do finish up paying too much as before, we'll automatically send anything above a fiver straight back to your bank at the annual review.
Well done on saving 10% on the previous year too. When you've a minute, check out the 'Saving Energy' pages on our website. There are lots of tips there to help you save more. The bit about vampires sucking energy from appliances even when they're not in use is particularly popular.
Hope this adds to the information I posted yesterday. You know where I am if you've any concerns. Always happy to help.

That's great robj20. Thanks for doing that. As you can switch between the two fuels, you'll definitely receive the discount. It may show on your bills as separate amounts for the electricity and gas. Shouldn't think that matters though.
Also, as you're switching between the electricity and gas, I suspect the Direct Debit will be set up as two separate payments as well. Drop an email with your details to the address in my Profile. I can soon check.

The latest EdF deal costs, for me, less than £7 p.a. more than the MSE deal, lasts two months longer and has no early exit charges.
Not the hardest decision I've had to make0
