I am a customer of EDF since 2006 and thinking of grabbing this deal, saving £196 over the next year, based on previous year annual gas and electricity consumption. However, I have always found EDF service prompt and excellent. I like the annual energy statements which includes comparison of previous years annual energy consumption figures. Therefore, I have a few questions about EON customer service:
How good is their online system for managing the account?
Do the annual energy statements give comparisons with previous years consumption trends?
Do they provide an online chat service?
What is their average call wait time?
Hi iceman101
Thought I'd pop on with a bit of information about a couple of the points you've raised.
For existing customers, our Annual Energy Summaries compare the last two years usage to let them know if they're using more or less as a percentage. For new customers, the box showing a percentage will be blank. The summaries also include a personal projection of what could be spent over the coming 12 months. This is to help compare with other tariffs/suppliers.
At the moment, there isn't an online chat service but this is something we're looking at. You can, though, chat to us on twitter or through our facebook page. Also, provided you've a suitable phone (android), you can leave comments through there and we'll respond to these.
Call waiting times vary depending on the area of the business and the demand coming into the various departments. As an example, at this particular point in time, approximate waiting time for the Residential Call Centre is 5 minutes. For Home Moves it's 3 minutes. For Complaints it's zero and for Prepayment it's 11 minutes. These times can and do change very quickly.
Hope this is of interest iceman. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

Can't say on your second and third question.
And I don't know their average call wait time, but can say it's just about the only company who've never told me I've called at a particularly busy time and they are overwhelmed. Calls are always answered promptly and politely. And as I said in a previous post, Eon were the only energy company previously offering free 0800 numbers when others were using 0845 or 0870 premium rate numbers.
Hi poppasmurf_bewdley
Glad you find our online services useful. I've put a few tit-bits about call waiting times above in reply to iceman's questions. Just a heads up about our phone numbers, most are now 0345 or 0333. These are charged at local rates or might be free if included within certain phone tariff packages. There's a few 0800 numbers still around, mainly for teams dealing with our vulnerable customers.
Thanks for the kind comments poppasmurf. Hope the above is of interest.

Hi rabialiones
Sorry you're having difficulties registering with our website. This could be as straightforward as technical problems with our systems. I came in this morning to some difficulties that are continuing to have an impact. Probably be best to leave for 24 hours and try again.
If it isn't this, there's a couple of other things that come to mind. Registrations use a secure part of our website and we need your computer to trust our site so we can share confidential information. Sometimes, customers find their usual web browser security settings cause their computer to be a bit over cautious. This is usually fixed by adding E.ON to your list of trusted sites.
Another possibility concerns issues we've been having recently with certain browsers. In particular, Safari and Internet Explorer. We've found older versions of these browsers don't have sufficient security settings. We're looking at this but a work round is to either update your current browser or download another.
As I say, I'd hang fire before trying again but, if the problem continues, try the other options. Hope this helps rabialiones.

I'm an existing Eon customer and I have opted to switch to the collective tariff. Got the confirmation e-mail from MSE on 10th Sep, but nothing from Eon so far. Having seen the quick response some people on this thread have had from Eon, is there a problem with this response time or is everything running to plan?
I did receive an e-mail from Eon today, but that was to remind me that my existing tariff was running out and I should think about what new tariff I should opt for after the end date.
The problem with this system is that you have to believe MSE have done the job right at their end, and Eon are working on the switchover, but what if they haven't been told?
Update
This morning I received confirmation of switchover to the new tariff, backdated to the day of my application. Confusingly, no one has asked for a meter reading, so I have submitted one anyway. I don't see how you can bill a switch in tariffs without knowing the last tariff's consumption readings.0 -
I am with OVO who I am very happy with. However, I can save a considerable amount switching to Eon but reading their customer ratings they are very poor. Can anyone confirm this or even defend this ?0

Where have you read about very poor customer services from Eon?
Most customers on here have given the company a good or excellent rating for their services."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -

I Googled them here at one of the biggest review centres Trustpilot. All these people can't be wrong.

Is that site run by EDF or British Gas? Because what is written there is directly at odds with the comments on this forum.
So you have a choice. Believe Trustpilot and stay on your current deal, or believe what members say on this forum, change to Eon and save yourself a handful of cash.
It's up to you."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Hi guys, I finally bit the bullet and decided to switch. Kinda worried about the credit check (I'm sure I wasn't asked as many questions last time I switched).
Putting "Student" as occupation never sounds good though, and I never know whether to put in my parents address as my billing address or not, as that's where all my bank details and everything are still registered to.
We'll see, hope it all goes through OK.0
