MSE big switch eon to eon?

Options
I,m currently on the v14 Eon tariff that ends in feb 2016,

Ive just done a comparison and found that Eon MSE Fixed 1 Year Collective Sept 2015 Online is slightly cheaper,
my current rates are

12.989p per kWh

Economy7 rate
5.093p per kWh

Standing charge
16.422p per day

the new Eon tariff rates are below (I know not much of a diff) but its an extra year

12.506p per kWh

Economy7 rate 4.851p per kWh

Standing charge
16.422p per day

I have two questions

1/ my current tariff there is an exit fee of £5, since I,m moving to the same company do they waive this?

2/ how long does it take before the new rates take effect using and going through MSE?

thanks

I'm in the same boat - I'm on Energy Fix v12 which ends on the 2nd November with a £5 exit fee - if i wait 10 days (the MSE deal is on for another 15 days!) I'll be within the last 50 days and thus avoid exit fees in theory - but need to know if I can switch from E.on to E.on.

If I can, it's a no brainer - it's another fixed year, for over 1p per kWh cheaper than i'm currently paying - saving me about £100 a year in my one bed flat (with an awful lot of tech!)

I can answer number 1 though: Nope - they don't waive it whenever you switch a tariff internally - I looked into this with a cheaper tariff earlier this year and they told me the £5 fee would stand.

it does say on the MSE Switch
"PS: If you're on last year's 12 month E.on collective switch, you can switch now to this, no penalties, no problem. "

think I will give Eon a ring later to double check, even if its £5 its still worth it tho,

tho the new tariff comes with a £30 exit fee, and with news of pending cuts, its a case of shall I go now or wait, as I still have a few good months left, in the hope of getting a better deal either with price cuts or a new MSE deal coming out.

Emm, as far as I can see E.ON disagrees.

Will I be charged an exit fee if I switch to the new version of my fixed tariff before my tariff end date?

No, we don’t charge an exit fee if you switch to another E.ON tariff. If your current tariff includes an exit fee, you will only be charged this if you switch to another supplier.

Oh, that's great - I'll switch now then!

That's different to what they said online earlier this year - but i'm not complaining :)
  • That being said, that applies to switching to a new tariff through E.ON. They may, or may not, charge an exit fee when switching using a third party. If I remember correctly though, they were very good about it during the last collective switch.

Reading the MSE email again, it does say:

    Q. I'm already with one of these providers (eg, E.on). Can I still switch? Yes (including our Big Switch I E.on winner), plus E.on & Green Star say they won't charge exit fees on their existing tariffs if you change to their winner.

So this should be all good :) Submitted my switch request anyway, so we'll see what happens!

Last time I changed products they did not charge exit fee of £5. Also got the £15.00 cash back after exactly 3 months.

I have had a lot of experience of changing suppliers and this is one of the best companies on the market. Online account facilities are excellent and always a E.on representative on hand to answer any queries.

    Hi NittyGritty

As an existing E.ON Customer, there's no exit fee for transferring from one of our tariffs to another.

Collective tariffs stand outside our usual switching system and are handled manually. Please allow up to 4 working days from the time of asking to switch for the request to hit our system. As soon as it does, as an existing customer, you'll be on these prices from this time.

If you've registered before for our Price Alerts, these don't apply to this new tariff because it's a standalone product and there won't be future versions. Reward points still apply though.

Hope this helps NittyGritty. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

    Hi razord

Hope my post above to NittyGritty answers your questions. Just to confirm, as an existing customer, you can still go on to this new MSE Collective tariff and there's no exit fee for moving from one E.ON product to another.

    Hope this helps razord.

    Hi Shrimply

Glad we helped okay last time you switched to a collective tariff with us. Just to confirm, exit fees still don't apply when switching from one E.ON tariff to another even through the Cheap Energy Club.

    Hope this is useful Shrimply.
