Thanks James for the advice I have now completed the application to switch to E on Have received 2 emails confirming my application
I have got the meter readings for a full year . I was paying £84 per month and my payment has been reduced to £66
I am concerned I may not be paying enough. I did have £175 refunded to my current account towards the end of last year.
Currently my account with M&S shows I am in credit so presumably they will refund this when the account is closed
I will be away for 39 days Dec/Jan so whilst I leave my heating on low setting I will obviously use less Electricity than usual.
I was wary of switching but now that I have made the switch I am happy to have done so. Thanks again Sue n

    Hi Sue

I can see you're concerned about how much we're asking you to pay so thought I'd stop by with a bit of information about our Monthly Direct Debits. They're based on current prices and usage. The aim is to achieve as near as possible to a zero balance by the annual review.

To make sure accounts are on track for this, we check approx every 3 months. If necessary, we'll only make a change at the mid-term and annual points. At the other times, we may recommend a different amount but leave it up to you to make any changes. Before changing anything, though, we'll be in touch by letter/email to let you know. This will be 14 days before the proposed change. At the annual review and if bills have been based on accurate readings, any credit over a fiver will automatically be refunded. Or, if a debit balance, this will be built into the ongoing arrangement and spread over the next 12 months.

Thought I'd also mention an online tool to give you more control over the arrangement. This includes being able to change the monthly amount. Provided you register with our website, you can use the 'Direct Debit Manager.' Comes in handy should circumstances change and might be of use after being away in Dec/Jan.

Provided the account is billed up to the latest meter readings, payments can be changed by up to 20 per cent up or down. By up to 5 per cent up or down without readings. Before confirming the new amount, we'll let you know by how much we anticipate the account will be in credit/debit by the time of the annual review if payments are changed but usage doesn't alter as expected.

You can create your own bills online too. Just pop in meter readings and select 'create a bill.'

Hope this eases your concerns a little Sue. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

  • Hi

I'm thinking of doing the Collective Switch to E.ON for my parents. I've not used E.ON before but need something with good customer service for my parents as they're getting on a bit now.

I have seen the Trust Pilot reviews which are quite concerning but there is some positive stuff about customer service on this thread. Just wondering what people's opinions were more widely of E.ON and its customer service.

    Thanks in advance

  • We were supplied by Eon for some years at a previous property and didn't have any problems. Good website that shows useage and compares each year on graphs which was interesting to review. We have tried SSE and are currently with Coop until I saw this switch option and have jumped at it, anything to get away from Coop even paying the exit fee.

  • Can i just check before i make the switch, that i will be able to apply for the warm home discount once i have switched over to Eon?
    In Progress!!!
  • I intended to switch to E.on with the collective switch but somehow I managed to switch to First Utility. I emailed them and said I had changed my mind so they cancelled my switch and conformed this by email. The Energy Club says I am still switching how long will it be before I can switch to E.on

    Hi slipthru

Yes, we support the Warm Home Discount scheme and are taking applications for the 2015/16 payment of £140 now. There's more information, including an application form, on our website. The electricity account will, though, need to be live before you apply.

We're also involved with the Government led Energy Company Obligation (ECO) project. This aims to cut usage by providing help with energy saving stuff like loft and cavity wall insulation. There's more details about this on our website too. Might help a bit.

Hope this answers your question slipthru. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help.

    Hi David

If you drop an email to energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com we'll update this for you.
  • I signed up to switch from the previous E.ON collective tariff to the new E.ON collective tariff.

Signed up this morning, received my confirmation email from the Cheap Energy Club almost straight away, received confirmation from E.ON this afternoon and my smart meter is already showing the new rates. All done inside 8 hours. Very, very impressive.

    Hi FredandWilma

but if you could drop a note to energyclub@moneysavingexpert.com we'd be happy to check that all the details are showing correctly on your account.

I hope this helps clarify things for you.

Hi Dan, I've emailed the energy club as all my details are still showing incorrectly on my account and it wouldn't let me edit / update, before or after the switch.

    Edit

Okay, I've had a look again, the account is locked for up to 12 weeks whilst EON inform you of the switch. Next time i will be more careful in checking CEC has updated my details / updated them when I've updated them.

There's still the question, why wouldn't CEC give me a quote including my (then) current tariff because i DID enter that information when comparing tariffs?
Fred - Where's your get up and go?

Barney - It just got up and went.

I opriginally had my gas with British Gas and Electric with Eon.

I have done the switch to Eon duel fuel, got an email saying change of tarrif for electric and another email welcome to eon for my gas with a different account number.

Will these get combined once the switch is complete, or will it remain as two accounts and two direct debits?
