@bc1981 -you won't get any offers via MySky unless you actually CANCEL:)
Just make sure your account is set up to allow all marketing messages -you can always cancel the permissions after you get a satisfactory deal:T0 -
How do all,
Recently out of contract with Sky, currently paying near £100 for TV (family, movies, sports,HD), Talk (evenings and weekend calls) and Broadband (Unltd). They have just announced increase in price of £4.25/month. Broadband is a joke. We were advertised download speeds *between* 7-14mbps yet we only get 1 (ONE)mbps on a good day.
I know what your thinking ... "why are you asking for help? you have the perfect scenario to switch?!"
Not quite .... the account is in my fiance's name. She hates talking on the phone and dreads the very idea of asking for a better deal and would happily pay what they ask 9/10 times (yes, I lose my head about this). So they will not even entertain me when I try to haggle, asking for the Account holder. How do I get around this so I can really knock this deal down? As we have 2 children and a busy schedule its extremely difficult to watch live TV so having the ability to record and watch later is quite important to us.
Any advice would be kindly received0 -

Our account is in my Husband's name, he does the security checks and gives permission for me then speak to them - I do the haggling. Works every time!0 -
family bundle +sports+ movies + HD + multiroom.(TV only)
Total cost is £87
Cancelled a few weeks ago.
MySkyapp says 50% off for 12 month contract.
Phoned up and online chat. Best they could offer was 35% off for 9 months, rolling contract and £50 credit.
Told them the MySky app still says 50% off but they claim this offer ended yesterday.
I've hung up and left it as is. My sky will stop in about 1.5 weeks.0 -
Thank you so much for both the tips and the examples of how well those tips work in haggling with Sky! I rang BT and got details of a package which, while it lacked some of my current Sky package, was very attractive at literally half the price. Attractive enough to make the effort to haggle, certainly. So I then rang Sky and was put through to Customer Retention, I told them about the BT deal and, without having to ask or even threaten to leave, I had my package dropped by 30% on the spot. Saved just under £300 per year in one go, plus £40 credited to my account. Happy Easter indeed!0

Tired dad
Hang in there, you will get 50% discount and £100 credit later down the line just before the cancellation date0 -
will they call me or do I call them?
I got the 50% off plus £50 bill credit by email about two weeks after cancellation, together with the offer of a free new HD box if I upgraded to Family. Left it for ~ 1 week then opened negotiations on chat -ended up with 60% off plus new box plus £100 bill credit in exchange for upgrading to Family and HD pack.:T Annual cost is only slightly more than last year's deal -and I got HD on everything.0 -

Hi,
Spoke to them via sky chat live. Pretending to be my other half. Explained how we wanted to leave as bill was over £100/month now the price increase. First offer was £71.40 for 9 months with sports and HD removed and family bundle reduced to variety (no box sets) and movies discounted :S .... I declined obviously. They tried again, this time removing movies : £52.90 for 9 months then up to £60.90 for the remainder of minimum 12 month term. I said no and told them I was looking to half my bill at least, with the same package, not losing parts of it. They tried once more ... the best they could do was £49.70 for 9 months of minimum 12 month term: variety bundle, sky talk (weekend calls) and broadband.
I told them I am leaving. To me, this is not a saving.
I'll be waiting to see if they come back with a better offer ...Sky TV is to be cancelled 28/4.0 -

More and more examples of front line C/Services playing hardball - but still plenty of examples of good retention offers after cancellation!:)0
