I’ve had a email today reducing my bill by 35%. Should I accept or wait to see if they offer me the 50% deal?0
-
Just to note my Sky TV went off a week ago and there has been no contact from the winback team as of yet.
How long does it usually take to get an offer?0 -
If your Sky has gone off and you visit https://secure.sky.com/mysky-comeback/ then they should offer you a better deal there. Mine is running at 50 percent currently although I still think the cost of Signature is too high given the price of NOW TV.1

My Sky stopped yesterday. I agree with eljmayes that compared with NowTV Entertainment pack, Signature offering is too expensive. So far, I've not desired to watch a Sky exclusive TV show, and when I do, I'll likely buy a month of NowTV and watch as much as I can. I guess I'll save on watching/fast-forwarding through adverts too?!1

This evening Mrs M noticed Sky live pause wasn't working. (She noticed it yesterday too, but didn't mention it!) I went online to see what deal we could get. Online chat while watching Free-to-Air services on Sky. Online chat agent offered Sky Signature for £13/month for 18 month contract, with £10 set-up fee/Admin fee. Overall cost per month £13.56. I asked for and got a free upgrade to a Sky Q box, with no setup fee etc. Signed up online and Sky live pause is already working again, so Mrs M is happy!

tan86 said:Hi,
im new to this group and after advise. I’ve recently give 31 days notice to cancel my sky package as my contract was due to end. It’s only been 3 days and had no offers yet. How long before you normally start getting offers if any?
I was paying £107.50 a month for TV, Broaband and Phone. TV package included Sports, Cinema, Netflix, Entertainment, Ultimate on demand, Multi screen. I was offered a reduced cost of £86.50 by the retentions team which I refused. After looking in my sky deals I’m being offered
Sky Signature £21
Sky Cinema £5
Sky Sports £11
Ultimate TV £6
HD £1
No mention of broadband deal.
Is this a good deal or should I wait?
Thanks0 -
I used this thread and others to haggle my Sky TV contract recently so I thought it might be helpful to share my recent experience and outcome for others to see.
For background, I've had Sky TV for 20+ years and currently have a Sky HD box (No Q, no multi-room), my phone and broadband are not with Sky and I wasn't looking to change them to Sky. I had managed to get a fairly good discount a couple years go which had recently run out so I was out of contract when I started to haggle again this time around.
I was paying around £80 p/m because I was of contract so initially rang Sky to see what deal they could offer me. I had Sky Entertainment, Sports, Movies, HD, Sport HD and box sets.
The initial offers weren't great, only around £20-25 p/m cheaper than my out of contract price so I waited a few days and then proceeded to cancel via the online chat. This took around 45 mins as they continued to offer me various deals and discounts to try and ask me to stay. Again the offers weren't great, around £30-35 cheaper than my out of contract price (as well as Sky Q which I was not interested in) so I proceeded with the cancellation through the online chat. This started my pre-cancellation period and my Sky would be cancelled after 31 days.
I waited a few days and checked for deals on the MySky page but I didn't receive any messages and I couldn't access the MyDeals page under my SkyAccount (the page just wouldn't load). From what I've read, some people get deals sent to them this way, others don't, I'm not sure why.
In the end, I got call from the Retention Team around 5 days later offering me a deal that was more in line with what I wanted around around £45-50 p/m cheaper than my out of contract rate (summary of the deal below). I think it helped that I have been with Sky for so long and that I was out of contract, but it was clear that I did not get the level of discount that I wanted until I had formally asked to cancel my contract.1 -

My Sky has been switched off for three weeks now and our offers are as follows-
Signature £17
Sports £12
HD £1
Cinema £6
Kids £2
I still think Signature is really poor value at £17 compared to Now TV Entertainment so am not renewing at the current time.
It seems that Sky are becoming less easy to deal with- if you don’t live in a cabled area or haven’t spent the desired amount of money they won’t haggle with you or ring you with offers.
Sky aren’t in a great position currently- the lack of forthcoming content due to coronavirus and the downward trajectory in pricing due to the competition with streaming means discounts may be harder to come by as they try to get as much revenue from their existing customers.
I suspect Now TV/Sky combines the Entertainment and Cinema packages in the next 12 months to compete with the likes of Netflix/Amazon/Disney Plus.1
