I think we should start a petition online and also see if ofcom can intervene - as this was definitely a reason why lot of us have renewed contracts with o2.
I remeber that before my o2 contract which i have had for almost 2 years (renewed in May 07), i had the orange everyday 50 which allowed o8 numbers on the inclusive minutes and i had left it for o2.
Anyone up for it?
I think it will be in vain cos all companies are allowed to change their T&C and we as a customer have the right to cancel our contracts when this happens.
However, I feel this is slightly unfair due to the fact that we as customers cannot change the T&C for 9 months of a contract once we agree to a new contract. So in fairness, when companies do change the T&C of a contract to our disadvantage they should give 9 months notice as oposed to 30 days.0 -
Hi, I was just wondering what would happen if you managed to cancel your contract early due to the change in T & C's, but you had already recieved a console as a free gift for taking out the contract?
The contract was taken out through CPW so its probably not possible to cancel anyway but just in case, it would be interesting to see what would happen, do you have to send it back? This is all very annoying as like a lot of people have been said, the ablilty to call 08 numbers from inclusive minutes was one of the selling points the agent used
Thanks

I got a CPW O2 which runs out soon I haven't received a text on this contract but have on another. If I get a phone for upgrade and then get a text can I keep the phone when I cancel?0

Yeah I'm up for it! Read my previous post in this thread I did suggest it.
O2 will lose the single most beneficial advantage they have over ALL other networks, if they didn't include 08 numbers I would NOT have TWO O2 contracts!0 -

In reply to your question, this is what I wrote in another forum:
I am sure there will be some law around that means the mobile is rightfully yours once you cancel the contract as it is FREE when you signed the contract. Because O2 are in breach of contract (change of T&C) it should mean that you fulfilled your part of the contract.
Lets put it this way, I could not get away with paying O2 less than what they ask for each month so why should I pay them more than what I agreed to?
I am only 4 days into my upgrade. I am thinking of phoning them on the 10th or 11th day to ask to cancel due to change of T&C. I am waiting for the text, but I don't know if I will get it like other people who have upgraded recently who also haven't got this text yet. It's a catch 22, cos what if I cancel and then find out that 08 numbers are still free after 28 Sept on the Leisure Time Plus? So many choices! lol0 -

I'm in a similar position in that I am waiting for the first installment of my automatic cashback which I understand could take 60 days to arrive in my bank account.
As far as I see it, I have kept my side of the contract by paying in full on time, its CPW and O2 who have changed the contract.Hark at you going all strict0 -

I remember when orange started charging for 0800 calls - they offered people to either cancel contracts or include 0800 calls till end of contract.
Any idea where we start the petition? Will be looking on the ofcom site - i have not recieved text yet, but know not long before i get one.0 -
I use an 0845 number to call aborad regularly. I have a very old O2 deal (SIM only, was BT genie) which is very good- £12 per mth for 50 free off-peak mins per day + 500 texts per mth. Im a bit confused about all this talk bout text messages- I havent been sent anything about a change to conditions so that 0845 is no longer included in free mins. Do they have to send by text ? I havent had letter or anything.0

Interesting point, but I don't think O2's billing system is sophisticated enough to deal with varying lengths of tariffs for the 08 numbers. When I phone them up next week I will try and ask them about keeping the 08 numbers for the length of my minimum contract.0
