I think that O2 charge to give you a PAC to prt from the PAYG SIM but Orange dont.

Also why does the disconnection have to be by 27th Sept?

hmmm so my problem is will orange payg port the number in less than 7 days, and you are saying that if i ring cpw back and ask to move to o2 payg it would be instant

By saying the 27th I think you mean Sept, but, you have 30 days in which to port the number from receiving the pac, and your contract ends the day the number actually comes into use on Orange. So plenty of time to leave, (30 - 7 leaves 23 days spare time for it to happen).

PS CPW havent emailed me either, looks like its the 0870 cs # again!!!

I thought that you only have days 28 from date of text to cancel the contract, the change of contract happens on the 28th, if my contract is connected after this then i will be stung and miss the deadline.

So i have 30 days from recieving the PAC, and if it changes over sometime in Oct then i should not face any penalties

Yes you have 30 days from receipt of PAC, but there's another issue here in that you have to have cancelled within 30 days of change of contract terms. As I see it, if you run over the 30 day limit and it runs into October, then you will no longer legitimately be able to cancel because you will have run beyond Sep 27th.

I am still really confused

I spoke to O2 on Mon and they offered to send my PAC so I could keep my number. Fed up of waiting and not sure what to with the PAC that would not cost me money to switch it back to contract I emailed to cancel. I have since received my PAC.

Can I use this PAC to port back to a new O2 monthly contarct with new handset or do I have to port away from O2?

I emailed my request to cancel about 30 minutes before my PAC arrived

However, I was still unsure as to what to do with my PAC code.

I dont think I can use it to start a new pay monthly contract with O2. So would need to either port my number to a different provider's contract or PAYG.

What worries me about PAYG is some providers apparently charge to get a PAC from PAYG SIM
