if you have an o2 account online or other and you have not received a text you are not affected by the change ie you are already on a tariff that does not have 08 numbers in allowance
if you connected or upgraded on new tariffs after april 07.
all text were sent by 28.08.07

Dare I say, you are misleadig consumers regarding something rather important!!
  • I agree with vbnmu,
bunny_boiler Please correct you post(unless you are 100% sure) as this statement could lead some MSE to uninvited trouble. We have to understand as this thread is so big people often don't read every post. if someone read this and assume what you said is correct then he / she can make mistake.

o2 had to give 30 days notice 5 and a half million text were sent to affected customers before the 28.08.07. the only people who have not got them will be people who have not used them since 1st march 2007 or who are not on Q2 or Q3 2007 tariffs. as per the terms and conditions they are not significanlty disadvantaged by this change. possible future use is not deemed as significant by the regulators and does not have to be considered.
sorry to sound snappy i understand peoples frustrations but word of mouth makes people confused and just makes the situation worse.

Possible future use might not be a tangible argument but u r still wrong. I have upgraded after April 07 and get the number free-leads to yr post where u say sth different.
A lot of people who took a contract with CPW in the last few months were informed that these numbers would be free.

I stick by what I said before. Some of the info you have given out is misleading.
Am not too sure what frustration has to do with stating certain facts. Better than giving innacurate details.
  • no on tariffs taken after april 07 we have not charged for them but in terms and conditions they are not included so you got a bonus !
if you are an existing customer and you upgraded you may have been put on a pre Q2 07 tariff therefore the terms and condition have changed
unless you work for o2 ?

  • Hi when it comes to change in term of a contract O2 has to give notice to everyone doesn't matter whether the person used it or not. They may take this as an argument from stopping people to cancel the contract (that is a different ball game and we discuss this seperately) any change in contract should be notified to customer.
My friends used over 3000 minutes a month to call 08xx nos.
They are using this since Feb atleast
    They haven't recieved the text.
They are definately affected by this.
I can understand from where you are coming but as a legal requirement they have to tell everyone by writing if any change occurs in T&C. the can not "ASSUME" that user will not be effected.
I have 2 contracts. and got sms on the number which I never used to make any call. but the number I am using to make 08xx calls did not got any sms.
O2 will be in a bigger problem if they do not inform everyone by writing (for all of the number they have)
I have 2 contract and they have to inform me twice as I have 2 seperate contract. if they don't they are leaving an opportunity for me to assume that only one number will be affected.
If you scroll through my post above I said there is a great possiblities that their resource (system as well as employee) are not capable of executing so much extra task in a very short span of time. as this is above their day to day job. I think that is the only reason why people are missing out.

possible future use is not deemed as significant by the regulators and does not have to be considered.

Irrespective of what the "regulators" deem, this is a change to the detriment of those whose contracts originally included these calls in the inclusive bundle for which they have been paying, and is certainly significant if that had been a consideration when originally agreeing the contract.
  • Not so in my case... O2 online customer, upgraded prior to April 07, 08 numbers definitely included in my current contract STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A LETTER OR A TEXT. Have rung O2 twice now who confirm that I will be affected by the change and as such can cancel without penalty. No explanation given as to why I have not been sent a letter or text.
