  • Having read all of these posts, I felt suitably armed to call O2 this morning:

I am an O2 customer 7 months into a 12 month contract, got the phone I wanted plus £60 worth of speakers, 100 texts and 125 mins for £20 a month.
I received THE text on 23/08.

I went through to 'Cancellations' and spoke to a nice man called Owen. I said that a friend had told me I was within my rights to cancel my contract due to the forthcoming changes. He looked ay my account and said I'd only made one NGN call in 4 months and rather than cancel he could switch me to 200 texts and 400 minutes for £15 for the duration of my contract - I bit his hand off!! This comes into effect from my next bill date in 2 weeks.
action-smiley-033.gif This was my intention, I am really pleased. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
  • I called retentions y'day, having received the 'text'. Was on £30 pm contract, spoke to retentions and he offered me 200mins/400txts for £15- so thats a considerable saving for the duration of the contract!
i used to make quite a few 0844 calls...
    well pleased..

I suppose their next move will be to lock contract phones as this is the remaining carrot. ;)

Successfully ended my O2 CPW agreement today - I'm 9 months in to an 18 month contract. PAC is on it's way ;)

I spoke to an extremely pleasant and helpful lady who said 'you are quite entitled to end your contract with us' and I confirmed this was without penalty (to which she said 'of course not'!).

I addressed my complaint / disconnection request to the High Level Complaints dept at their Portal Way address and the phone call I received was from this department. I would recommend writing to this dept as they seem clued up and don't argue at all - unlike the standard customer service people who will argue black from white!!

I didn't get offered anything as a retention sweetener, but I'm just happy to have been able to end the contract.

So don't let anyone at CPW tell you you can't end your contract - if you get no where on the phone, just write to the HLC dept to get it sorted.

    Regards

I too wrote a letter last Wednesday, 30th of August, and got a phone call just 20mins ago from the above stated department and said my contract has been cancelled and will receive my PAC within 5-7 days.

Didn't offer any deal to me either, but happy to have got out of a horrible contract!
  • When you say your contract has been cancelled and your pac code has been issued, does this mean that the number is no longer in use until you find another network?

The High Level Complaints department is for Carphone Warehouse.

CPW are the administrators of the contract if you joined O2 through them, therefore it is CPW you need to instruct to end the agreement.

The contract doesn't officially end until you use the PAC with another network. The new provider / network provides a transfer date and that is when your contract ends with the existing network. You would be without service for around 2-3 hours on the day of transfer.
