i do work for o2 and completely appriciate how everyone feels about the removal of NGN from there allowances
anybody who took a contract after the 27th april 07 had this removed anyway and this included if you upgraded and took new tariff
the terms and conditions are that if it is of significant disadvantage to the customer they can cancel this is in accordance to ofcom 10% of the bill so if you are on a 35.00 tariff that means you needed to have made around 3.50 worth of these tyoe of calls monthly since march.
o2 however are allowing customers who have made 1 call in the last 6 months to cancel.
as goodwill o2 are offering the simplity tariffs for the remainder of the contract therefore reduceing your line rental by minimum of 10.00 a month. but it is for the rest of the contract so if you have 6 months left you are still in contract for 6 months but on lower rate.
CPW are telling customers they can not cancel but this is incorrect unless you have not made 08/05/06 calls in last 6 months
ofcom told me regarding my husbands cpw account that they have to allow him ot cancel if he uses the calls.
as per last post - if you take a contract out now it is already in force so don't do it!

  • I think most of us will cancel the contract. But to maximise our benefit, when should I send the cancellation request? If I send an email today, will my phone be dead next day / within 24/72... hrs if accepted by O2? Please advise... thanks

in 30 days from the date of your letter
  • I've not received a text or letter yet.
    I'm on o2 online tariff.

How many people reading this thread still haven't received official notification?

I haven't received the text for either of my 2 contracts yet. My next billing date isn't until the 13th (which I'm assuming will have some reference to the changes) so technically, O2 won't have informed me of the change to my T&C's with 30 days notice of the charges from the 28th.

Should I query this with them, or carry on using the minutes until getting official notification, and then getting onto C/S for any charges incurred in the interim?

Just been on the phone for ages. Spoke to an adviser who just kept refusing and stating that i hadn't used the number in 6 months. Finally got her to pass me to a supervisor who had to call me back. She wouldn't let me cancel either and after arguing with her for about 15 minutes (Stating that they were in breach of contract, they'd disadvantaged me, mentioned all the T&C's) and all she'd do was give me the address for Complaints Resolutions which will take weeks before i get a reply out of them.
Is there anything else i can do?
Can i just email them requesting cancellation or do i have to get prior approval over the phone first?
    Any advice?

Simply email them. or write a letter.
You have to quote the T&C though. Its a lot easier than calling!

    I beg to differ.
Somehow people who have upgraded after the 27th of April while keeping their old tariffs are not being charged for these numbers.
In which case they have good grounds to cancel. Besides, O2 are in no position to calculate how often they would call these numbers in the future.
Its obviously different for new contracts where, presumably, these numbers are quoted as non-inclusive!

Kind of you to point out the Simplicity tariff situation. For some reason, they failed to mention this to a lot of customers.

For a minute I expected you to come up with 'O2 were the only one to offer it and no other network give these numbers for free'! No offense meant there but I seriously thought you would say that!

    Guys,
    Thanks to all of you.
I sent mail to O2 on 29th or 30th night next day morning I recd a text containing my PAC (ok PAC Code)
    I was on £6 a month 25 in + 25 text + free SEk610i+in car bluetooth.
I hardly used that number but my argument is that I am using my relative's phone to make calls which was true.

    I ordered a new phone
Now my worry is that they shud not charge me for full line rental. I guess they cannot s otherwise they have to inform me in advance of using the PAC.
just preparing myself for battle if it comes my way.
Please give me ur suggestion and thanks for ur help.
    I was on O2

If they didn't mention charges at any point in time then they shouldn't charge you whatsoever!

Bunny_boiler do you know if O2 were prepared for such a huge backlash against them dropping the ngn numbers from inclusive minutes? I know O2 are defending themselves by saying that everyone else had already done the same but it was by far the biggest plus point out of all the networks and many people like myself see no need to stick with O2 anymore and will go with whoever gives the best value or service(which does not neccessarily mean O2). I don't think the savings will outweigh the revenue loss.

Last time I called O2, the lad said something like: "Oh not many people are actually cancelling"!!
