I phone CPW o2 and they said I cannot leave and they have not sent the PAC code, I said got it. It's from CPW o2, he said it's not on their system.
He said try it.0 -
I have spoken to O2 regarding the issue of Pay Upfront For Life (PUFFL) customers and the proposed changes to exclude 08 numbers and a very pleasant person said she would send an email to the team dealing with this change and call me next week.
She did, however, add she thought it unlikely, (as do I), that any changes to the proposal will be made, i.e. the proposed changes will go through anyway.
I will post again when, if, I hear from them.

Can anyone offer any advice to those of us who have still not received 'THE TEXT'?
Do we just wait and hope we wont be affected until our current contract expires?
I'm on a discounted tariff of 200mins 500 texts for £15.
Just sit back and relax. No text means no notification.
One of my contracts is on Business tariff and I didn't get any text/letter0 -
I rang O2 just to see if they were prepared to give me any discounts to stay. Unfortunately they said they could not offer me anything as I had already upgraded recently.
Asked about the Simplicity tariff and the lady said I would be tied into another 12 month contract (without discount). Like, wow that is a great offer?!! That is what I call SIMPLE! No thanks, I think I will go online where I get more texts & GPRS data plus it's 30 day rolling contract (which is the whole point of sim-only).
@Totoriko
The business tariffs are not affected AFAIK.0 -
I am about 4 months into my 12 month contract. Send a D/C request to O2 through the email system and go the following backO2 wrote:Hello <davestones>,
Thanks for your email regarding mobile number 07xxx xxx xxx.
We're sorry to hear that you wish to move your number from O2.
Your PAC is XXXXXXXX and is valid until 30 September 2007. The PAC should be given to your new Service Provider, who'll then collect your phone number from us. We'll close your account as soon as your phone number is transferred.
If the PAC isn't used by 30 September 2007, your account will remain open and you'll continue to be charged your usual monthly tariff.
A final bill will be sent within 7 to 14 days of the disconnection date above, which will include any charges or credit due on your account.
You'll be charged a termination fee on your final bill. Please reply to this email when your final bill is generated. We'll then credit the termination fee.
If you've any questions, please contact us on 08706 007 102. We're available Monday to Saturday between 8:00am and 8:00pm and on Sunday between 10:00am and 6:00pm. Calls are charged at £0.20 per minute from O2 Pay Monthly phones.
You don't need to send us the cancellation notice in writing.
I hope you'll find this information useful.
Important - When you email us please provide: your date of birth, postcode and mobile number as it helps us answer your query faster.
Kind regards,

I don't like the look of that. It seems like they're going to charge you for terminating early.0

just had a very annoying and interestesting conversation with a manager in the cancellation department.
every time i ring, i get a different story, so I decided maybe it was time to think about a complaint.
Mr Manager said that you need to cancel you contract. Once it is cancelled, then request a PAC. If you request a PAC before the contract is cancelled, you will be charged cancellation fees.
This is NOT what I was told. I was told I should cancel my contract, by letter, then the next day, call to request a PAC.
Apparantly, they did not recieve my letter, glad I sent it recorded delivery, I will be going down to the Post Office tommorrow to check why it hasn't been delivered.
To be fair, he was very helpful, he said that if they have lost the letter, he has put a note on my account that the original letter was sent on the 23rd of August.embarrassed to say I used to work for barclays..sorry0 -
Haven't had time to read all 16 pages so apols if this has already been posted....
I've seen a few posters (those that DID have 08 numbers included in their previous tariff) that are being told they cannot cancel without penalty because they were not using the 08 numbers and therefore are not disadvantaged by the new T & C's. Why not ring Sky or another company on an 0870 number at peak time which will come out of your old inclusive minutes and then when you try and cancel you can prove that you are disadvantaged.
I'm 5 months into an 18 month O2 online contract, I haven't received a text or a letter so rang to check if I will be affected. He said yes I will but they cannot charge me the new rates on the 27th Sept like everyone else as I have not yet had 30 days notice. He said the charges will begin 30 days after I receive the text/letter.0 -

If you read the e-mail that Davestones received it states that termination charge will be applied but this can be removed by e-mailing them after the final bill has been generated. I also received this e-mail.
I would advice people to request PAC if you love your number as asking them to disconnect and then request the PAC you could face more problems. This is because if you do not port before the contract ends then you lose the number.0 -

Since then I received another text message with same PAC code.
1st was from PAC Details
2nd was from +447947000008
both contained same message
From O2/CPW: PAC number is *********. This PAC must be used by 30/09/2007. You will continue to receive monthly bills if it is not used.0
