Ive just rang CS to cancel under 8.4c
Spoke to a lady who tried to tell me that as id not rang one of those numbers recently then it wouldnt be applicable too me !!!
I politely pointed out that there t + c's dont state that if you dont use your not covered. Its simple, as stated before if when you signed these numbers were included and now there not you can cancel.
Spoke to a Line Manager who was obv. fed up of these calls and told me to do the following:
Write to:
o2 Disconnections
Po Box 242
Houghton Regis
RU5 5WA
State in the letter your
Full Name
Address
Mobile Number
Reason of cancellation
And most importantly sign the letter at the end
If you exersise clause 8.4c then within 30 days (your notice period) youll be free of your contract and have your PAC code.
I used to work for o2 (see previous posts) and my feeling is more and more people will have to go down this route as CS wont want an avalanche of disconnections inside this calendar month and as such will stop automaticly doing so on the phone. Giving them some breathing room and testing who can be bothered to go down the letter route hopefully buying some apathy !
Hope this helps anyone else and will save some fruitless calls and waiting in queues.

Just been told to write in to cancel - do we still need to give them 30 days notice?0

In the t + c's it does state 30 days notice, with more and more cancellations flooding in I cant see many/any people getting away with less from here'on in0

Have you got a copy of this contract (I can't find mine) and in the new one it's not on 8.4c? Joined in April 07.0 -
With regard to people being told they cannot cancel because they have not used 08nn numbers and so will not be significantly disadvantaged, I believe this is irrelevant, unless you are attempting to cancel the contract because you have been, or will be significantly disadvantaged.
The contract clause in question states several reasons why you, the customer, may end the contract, and the relevant reason is because O2 or CPW/O2 intend to increase call charges.11 Ending the Agreement
11.5 You may end this Agreement at any time by writing to CPW at the above address to give notice if:
11.5.3 if you are a Consumer Customer we increase Charges (for) calls, messages or data that form part of your inclusive allowance or your Line Rental Charges or change this Agreement to your significant disadvantage, provided you give us a minimum of 30 days written notice (and provided you notify us within one month of our telling you about the changes). This does not apply where the increase or change relates solely to Additional Services in which case you may cancel, or stop using, that Additional Service.
Hope this clarifies for those interested.

Hi Guys,
Have been reading this thread with interest as I am 5 months into an 18 month renewal with o2 Online and do use NGNs, but I haven't had THE text.
I called today to enquire and a really unhelpful person told me (without checking my account) that the changes have already taken effect and I am being charged for calls to NGNs. I told her that I am not, having checked my online bill, and she said that in that case the change won't affect me.
I have checked my on here again tonight to confirm that the change affects ALL o2 customers and called again just now. This time I got a really helpful guy in Scotland who I had a long chat with about the changes - and basically, YES it will affect ALL customers from the end of September, and he said without being asked that they are allowing ALL customers who wish to, to "walk away" from their o2 contract without penalty.
Different story to what I was told earlier! And a different story to those of you who are having difficulties cancelling!
I questioned him about the number of customers they were losing etc and he said its not too bad yet but too early to tell, and said that they have held off appling the charges for as long as possible.
So.... my advice to anyone having difficulties getting out of the contract would be to try and call in the evening to get through to the Scottish call centre as the guy I spoke to openly said that they are offering anyone enquiring about the changes to leave the contract early.
Not sure if the Scottish call centre is o2 ONLINE only though... worth a try and I hope that this info may be of help to some of you...0 -
Dreaming
CPW o2 have not agreed yet, First they said I couldn't cancel without buying my contract. I informed them of T&C change, anyway then spoke to another advisor who told me that they will look at last 6 months usage.
They have specailist people looking to see if we can cancel or not and will get a call back within 2 weeks.
When I took an upgrade I was told 0844 and 0845 numbers are included hence I took the contract.
So wait and see, I am hoping that I can get a pac. I have emailed them also and will send it in writing. I did write that If I don't get a PAC. then will take it further with OFCOM.

But O2 at the CPW have already agreed with people that have been placed at significant financial advantage, they can cancel.;)0 -
The president has been set with regard to "significant" me thinks
The link posted above will have you covered as its a hybrid contract that covers those before etc.
Ive tried the emailaddress at the top of this page and its bouncing straight back, along with the 242 being removed, so think theyve pulled the plug on that too.
Luckily im registered with account manager online

Anyone else who is, I suggest you login and contact via the help section to do it0
