I have 2 o2 contracts, one through mobileshope.com which is runnign out in Jan. My only concern is that by cancelling teh o2 contract now, do I forfit my cashback from September onwards? If thats teh case then its not really worth cancelling seeing as it was 11 months free anyway.... Anyone have any ideas on what happens with cashback?0

Hi,
I have been able to cancel my contract which was only upgraded 1-2 months ago and I never recieved a text or letter about changes.
You can do this by emailing them, its even easy if you have signed on for online access to your account( use contact us option via email).
make sure you include your name dob, postcode, mobile no in ur email and write them saying that you want to cancel your contract because of 0870 not being included in your inclusive minutes and you only upgraded as they were promised to be included.

I have a question..
I'm on a CPW O2 contract that I renewed in May. I specifically use it to call 0844 numbers for international so it won't be much use to me when this ends next month.
In one sense I am not too fussed because the renewal deal gave me 12 months free in ADVANCE, so I don't need to send any bills back. Now because they already paid the cashback in advance, my account shows I am around £200 odd pounds in credit (they take the line rental out of this each month). If I were able to cancel my contract because of them changing the terms, would they have to pay me the amount that I am in credit on my account? :-)0 -

Ring them first, asking to have the money debited to your bank account/card. Once the money has come through, ring up and say you want to cancel due to the changes in the terms and conditions.

But I don't know whether to cancel and try and find something better or to just stick with it. I was hoping to upgrade to a better contract with a new phone (have had one the whole length of the contact, bit battered lol) - I've heard some people have got £35 pcm contracts for £15 pcm, with a new phone by upgrading the last month.
*shrug*
I do call 0845 numbers a fair bit as well
O2 Online 30.
£30 a month, 18 Months (starting june 05), 300 mins inclusive, 750 texts inclusive, phone included in price (O2 XDA Mini S), 1MB data allowance included. But I estimate I make around 15 mins - 30 mins of 0845 calls a month at least. Don't know about 0870 and 0800 numbers normally say redial without the 0.0 -
As far as I can see O2 are saying that if they increase charges in accordance with secion 9.2 of their agreement then essentially you can cancel the contract.
9.2 states that if they change the terms of the contract to your significant disadvantage (in their reasonable opinion) we will give you 30 days notice in writing.
Therefore if they have sent you a letter or text they have admitted you will be at a disadvantage (in their reasonable opinion) and can therefore cancel with no penaltys.
It's all down in black & white folks
