When i got through to the retentions person finally, she said that because i upgraded my tarrif in june i was unable to cancel. She said that 08 numbers should have never been included in my contract, even tho she said at the moment they are coming out of my inclusive mins and long weekends.
Then she went quiet and after about 30 seconds said is there anything else i can help you with? and said i will not this conversation on your account.
Any ideas on how to get out of this, is she right?
Im on Anytime 600 with long weekends on 18 month contract.
No, she's not right.
If you had these minutes included in your contract, and soon you wont, then that represents a change in terms, and so you should be able to avoid the contract.0 -

Sorry but I would say she's probebly right.
Officially, if you sign a contract after April 2007, all those numbers are not included in your free minutes. They could simply explain that the reason you are not charged at the moment is a mistake. They made this mistake and you got some benifite. That's it.0 -

When they offered the tarrif on the phone, the didn't mention anything about these numbers being charged, she just kept going on about the 22,000 mins at weekends and how good a deal it was.Comping Challenge Make internet back in 2007

I have a CPW O2 250mins+100 txts and a O2 400mins+100 txts. I am 6months into the contacts and as they are both on 11 months free and 10 months free respectively I am hoping that I will be able to get a new phone out of them if I threaten to cancel the contracts although I really don't want to cancel the contracts as I will be out of pocket. Can people post what deals they have been offered to stay with O2 and CPW. I am hoping to get something like a Nokie E-series or a N80/95 off em.0

I use the 08 numbers a lot which is specifically why I got the o2 contract.
As I can now cancel without penalty are there any other airtime providers who include 08 numbers in the inclusive minutes?0 -
I spoke to O2 customer services yesterday who said that I could cancel my contract (renewed in January 2007) and transfer my number free of charge. They said that O2 were the only service provider currently including 08.. numbers in the inclusive minutes and that I wouldn't get a better deal anywhere else (which I probably won't!!!) I shall stick with them until January then have a look round at available deals.0

Just rung o2 and they said I would have to pay the rest of the contract off, I told them about section 8.4c and she just said I would have to write and complain.
UPDATE: Rang back spoke to a manager and he agreed to cancel at no charge and switch me to the simplicity at £20 a month for 400mins and 500texts, but after looking at what's available online I think I'll only keep that for a month and then port my number to one of the online tariffs..0 -
I have had a text this week from O2 saying that they are charging for 0845 numbers etc from end of September. The contract is through CPW.0

Just off the phoen with O2 (after talking to a very nice lady, much better than those in other network, especially Orange). She read out a note on their system and says that all tarriff are affected EXCEPT the Best For Business Pay as you use (which does not have bundle minutes to begin with anyway).
She said letters are being sent out between 23-28 August and one can only cancel/speak to retention on receiving the letter. Text notification has been sent out FROM 20th August. So that explaisn why others have not YET been notified. She said, customer should contact O2 anyway in early September if they have not received the notification (As they should have).0
