Well I rang CPW o2 again at 5.30pm today, asking to have my contract cancelled, told her about point 11.5.3 of the o2 TC's, she went away for 2-3 minutes, and came back asking to ring on Monday as they are unable to deal with it at the moment.

I did ask to be put through to the retentions dpt, but she said there's no real point as I would be waiting over 45mins, what with the lines closing at 6pm.

I did ask, however, if I was able to cancel my account, and she said yes, definitely, and put a note on my account so I don't go through the agro again on Monday.

Hopefully I get a result on Monday.

Of course you cannot rely on what they say. You will do best to write to them saying that you wish to terminate under term 11.5.3. You will also need to send it by Recorded Delivery.

O2 CPW users have a read of this thread, where your see after some struggle they admitted to a member (Bond) you can cancel if you have used the service to call ngn regularly.

Also see where O2 proper users have managed to cancel.

If the network let you cancel, what about the cashback? Would you still get them or you just lose them all???

I suspect you wont get any further cashback, but any due should be payable.

Be careful of the retailers t&c's.

For example e2save's pricematch t&c's state that if you disconnect from the network for any reason they charge you £200!

EDIT - And you'd have to time it right so that your bill arrives that you need to claim. Remember you only have 30 days to cancel from the date the text arrives.

    Hi,

I signed the O2 contract via phones4u. Does anyone know what I should do? Should I contact O2 directly or call in phones4u? If I should deal with phones4u people (I hope not), what should I be based on? I didn't find any T&C on their website :(

    Thanks!

    You should contact o2 directly.

I think these terms would apply for you, unless I am mistaken:

    State term 8.4c

Just phoned O2 and cancel my contract 9/18. No argument from CS, just is this because of the non geographical numbers? yes, would you like your PAC as well.

    Cheers op

30th June 2021 completely debt free…. Downsized, reduced working hours and living the dream.
  • The cost are:
    To 0870 : around 5.8p day, 3.5p evening and 1.5p weekends
To 0845 : around 2p day, 0.5p evening and weekends
To 0800 : around -1p during day, and -0.3p during evening and weekends (oh yes, the greedy operators GET money for connecting these calls and YET still want to charge 20p for it!!)
    To landline: <0.5p/min all time.
To Vodafone: around 9p day, 9p evening and 4p weekends
To Orange, T Mobile is about 8p day and 8p evening and 5p weekends
    To H3G is abit more.

Remember that if you ring a O2 number from landline, O2 get a big cut also (and they don't seemed to mind charging BT etc to connect to their (O2) number !!)

Why do the network operators get charged so much when their customers use these 08xx numbers? I know that the call reciever gets a cut(hence why when you call an 0870 number you always seem to get put on hold) but who exactly is coining it in? The sob story from the networks suggest they have to pay much more than foe normal calls so somone has to be getting rich from all this. Although they can't be too pleased that soon there will not be any networks left offering access to them in their inclusive minutes and ultimately they(the 08xx providers) will lose out(good, greedy gits). Perhaps they should put their prices down.
