I am on the Online 400 tariff and received the text about the change of contract.

If i try and cancel my contract can i keep my phone? I am only about 3 - 4 months into an 18 month contract!

    Cheers

This is funny...there's you 3/4 months into the contract and thinking whether you can keep the phone, and on the other hand, I am only 5 days into my contract and thinking of keeping the phone! LOL

I've emailed them to cancel the contract!

As I said above, I was only two months into my contract and am keeping my phone, so I'd say yes! ;)

If you signed up to your O2 contract after 27th April this year, you're already paying the newer higher charges, and these numbers aren't included in your contract. See http://www.o2.co.uk/specialnumbers

Daveyboy - looks like you got lucky by hitting them before the masses did - both the people I spoke to today span the line about "if every customer who was on an old contract rang to cancel, there'd be no customer left".

I'm going to see if they can do anything for me in an O2 shop tomorrow (am expecting absolutely not, but there we go).

Why do the network operators get charged so much when their customers use these 08xx numbers? I know that the call reciever gets a cut(hence why when you call an 0870 number you always seem to get put on hold) but who exactly is coining it in? The sob story from the networks suggest they have to pay much more than foe normal calls so somone has to be getting rich from all this. Although they can't be too pleased that soon there will not be any networks left offering access to them in their inclusive minutes and ultimately they(the 08xx providers) will lose out(good, greedy gits). Perhaps they should put their prices down.

Has anyone on any of the O2 Business Tariffs received the text message about the 0845/0870 numbers?

Just trying to narrow down whether this change is for consumer customers only...The reason i ask is that consumer customers are on a different billing system than business customers.

If you have received the text please state what tariff your on and when you connected to O2.

    a couple of questions
how long do I need to give notice to them to cancel because of this change? Must I still give 30 days?

Secondly is there a time period after 28th within which I must give them notice?

EDIT i just read post 111 and answered my questions :)

Not true in every case. After 27th April, it all depends on whether you stay on your old tariff or not. If they put you on the new tariff then you lose the NGN nunbers. Although I upgraded 6 days ago, I made sure that I was on my original tariff ;-)

It might be helpful if people could post which tariff they're on.

I have 2 CPW/O2 contracts (400/100 and 700/100). I haven't received "the" text on either phone (yet) and both were taken out in October 2006.

The O2 website for special number is quite clear that the charges would apply to ALL pay monthly contract so I do not see any O2 tariff old or new being spared.
