You cannot catch a cold from having wet hair. It's a complete myth. Colds are caused by viruses.

I've caught a cold more than once from being cold (once it was on a bus with strong air conditioning, where viruses live happily), so I'm not risking it. Even if I don't get the cold it's extremely unpleasant for me to have wet hair when it's cold!!

Could you wash your hair before bed instead of in the morning, so it can dry naturally while you at home in the warm?

Since I was a teen I've had to wash my hair daily. I've very fine hair. Lots of it, just fine so it got greasy and lank if I didn't wash it

Now in my 50's I'm letting the grey through and I can now go two days. The gray is a lot courser so I now have to condition it and use the straighteners more cos it's gone so curly in areas

I'm in that middle stage where the gray is only half way down my head so still to soon to get it chopped off. Fingers crossed I can stick to my resolve and not give in and colour it again
  • I wash my hair twice a week :rotfl:

Any more and I find it gets dry, I get a flaky scalp, and it gets greasy SO quickly.

Twice a week and it looks the same freshly washed as it does when I'm about to wash it.
Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:

No I can't, I look absolutely horrible in the morning :(. My hair gets strange shapes if I go bed soon after washing it (or soonish), and it's impossible to control in the morning.

I have a really bad hair, have hated it all my life :(

I wash mine every other day. It is long and fine but there is lots of it. I have problems with an itchy scalp so have to use silicone/paraben free products. My hair tangles really easily so I condition every time but I let it dry naturally (it takes a long time). Luckily I work from home so no one has to see me with wet hair except other dog walkers.

I wash mine 2 or 3 times a week. It's very long so takes forever to wash and dry! I try (honestly, I try!) to go running 3 times a week so it needs it after that. I use solid shampoo bars which last for ages, and solid conditioner too.

Can I ask where you buy your solid shampoo? I've tried the Lush one but it hasn't lasted me much, I find it's quite expensive..
  • I wash my hair every day, sometimes twice a day. It's short (very short on one side) as I have an asymmetrical haircut that I'm growing in (the longest side is just touching the bottom of my ear)) and in great condition. My hairdresser makes a point of telling me that each time she cuts my hair.

I have some solid shampoo from Lush, Alisha, but I won't be buying it again. I bought 2 full ones and asked for samples - of which they sent me three others with my order. I'm not really taken with any of them tbh. They've lasted but... eh. It doesn't do anything spectactular (i think I was expecting too much!) There are some solid shampoos on amazon that I saw by accident however so it seems other places do them :)

The poster talking about Tara Smith? (Sorry, I had a quick look back and can't find it again). If you have a Boyes near by, they're selling the Gloriously Gentle/Feed The Root/(something) curly/(something) Shine box sets with a shampoo, conditioner and serum in for £1.99.
