I understand that not everyone feels the need to wear clean clothes every single day and I don't think any less of them for that, but three months...seriously??Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?

The article is a study into how we're conditioned into believing that our clothes need washed every wear, even though there's no real reason. Even the article didn't suggest that the 5-times a week for 3 months was the "right" amount - that level was deliberately chosen to be an extreme amount that most people would consider to be disgusting.
I guess this comes back to something that was mentioned earier in the thread, i.e. necessity. I know its not necessary to wear clean clothes every day, or to shower/wash my hair every day. If I could only wear clean clothes/have a shower once a week I'd survive. But I don't need to. There is a real reason why I wash my clothes after each wear (apart from jeans which I will wear twice) and that's because I like the feel of clean clothes. That's reason enough for me.
You could use the necessity argument for a lot of scenarios. It's not necessary to hoover your carpet but most of us do. It's not necessary to wash your car..ever..but most of us do. I think we just like things to be clean.0 -
But the fact people like to be excessively clean is one the reasons superbugs and auto-immune diseases are on the increase. We're not designed to live in a sterile environment. To do so is madness and leaves us incredibly vulnerable to every microbe going! To remain healthy we need to build antibodies which can only occur through exposure to certain antigens.0

I wash my hair (not got a lot left) and beard twice a day.
It takes around 20 seconds to wash and only 10 seconds to dry. I can't remember the last time I used a comb.
But then it's never longer than about 3 mm and never shorter than 1 mm.Never trust a financial institution.

I wash my hair every day, and have done so for the past 50 + years. Mostly this is because the pillow fairies mess it up every single night, and I'd have to wet it to style it again in the mornings, so it just feels better to wash it and start every day afresh.
Very very occasionally, if I'm planning to spend the whole day indoors, I might leave it. But it never feels good if I leave it unwashed.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0
