Since you find washing your hair less as its disgusting, how do you manage going to the loo? Do you strip and wash every time? If you find no washing your hair everyday disgusting how do you managed the other end which really is unhygienic?

I had one of these installed: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Luxury-Thermostatic-Douche-Shattaf-Chrome/dp/B009RP7ILS/ref=pd_bia_nav_t_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=04S7DNYXYADC71VTF9HD

(I would have bought a normal bidet but bathroom isn't big enough). It's great! Well worth getting IMO.

As for hair washing, I go swimming almost every day so shower after that.

I used to wash my hair every day but stopped. I had very dry and brittle hair when I washed it daily. I never attributed this to hair washing but managed to cut it back to 3 times a week and saw a big difference in my hair. It no longer fell out, it didn't feel as thin or as fragile and it just stopped itching (or my scalp stopped itching).

I think it's each to their own, I was every day (I shower) and sometimes twice a day but wont wash my hair daily because it doesn't work for me. I have naturally dry skin and no doubt a naturally dry scalp. I also live in a hard water area which means unless I have a water softener I will get added lime in my water. Harmless but can be drying.
I also find that the heat from the water makes things drier too- I hate cold water, I will lower the temperature but will never have a cold shower- I also think though hot water affects things, stress does too and feeling stressed and ill after too many cold showers isn't going to do me or my hair any favors in the longer term.

If I were sweating a lot, swimming daily or had a hectic life with many children, animals and a non-stop, on-my-feet job 6 days a week, I'd be saying something different. But I have not got my own family (:( ) dogs/cats and am a slowed down job type of person rather than having an active and athletic job.

I reduced my hair washing and the only thing that changed with it (after the increase in washed towels) was my hair was able to grow beyond chin level because it stopped fallying out so much.

I only wash my hair around every 4/5 days its down to the middle of my back and its just a pain, I have found its got healthier since I stopped washing it everyday and fuller!! If I've left it a week then I do need to give it a really good shampoo though.

On holiday I did wash it everyday however I was in the pool everyday so to get the chlorine smell out of it!!!

I shower every day and just put my hair into a bun so its out of the way when I wash, but I'm a less than 5 minute shower person, in scrub all over rinse out!! I love my sleep too much to be in the shower any longer lol!!

Well I'm going to buck the trend here!
My hair is long & thick (very thick) & in great condition.
But it's wavy so I have to straighten it after blow drying.
I wash mine once a week with Philip Kingsley shampoo :-) I use conditioner very very occasionally.
I use Batist (brown) one or twice. After three days & maybe on day 5 or 6 too.

I shower at least daily, always in the morning & sometimes an evening shower or bath too.

Wow, can't believe everyone washes their hair so frequently. I wash mine just once a week, and can sometimes leave it for up to 10 days if I'm not going out anywhere that I need to wear it down. My hair is long, thick and glossy and everyone always compliments me on it. It never smells either, otherwise I might feel the need to wash it more frequently. I also leave it to dry naturally and don't use any product on it which might make a difference as I don't have a build up of chemical residue in my hair.

Every couple of days or so here. It's long and layered and looks really lank if I wash more often!

This thread really does show everyone's different though :)

I used to wash my hair every day when it was short, but now it has grown to just below ear length I only wash it every few days. I have though changed to SLS free shampoo and cannot believe the difference it has made to my hair. I would never go back to ordinary shampoo again.

I only use organic shampoo and conditioner, but sadly it doesn't make a big difference, my hair is really bad! It's so dry and coarse that it takes me a long time and a lot of heat to straighten it, and this of course makes it drier... :(

I've never known how to escape this vicious circle, I also cannot let my hair dry naturally because not only it looks absolutely horrible but I wil get a cold unless it's really hot outside (which usually is not in this country)

I wash mine every 2-3 days. It's so thick and suffers from frizz, so it puts it in really bad shape if I wash it every day.
  • I don't wash my hair everyday. My hair often looks terrible the second say so sometimes I wash it. But I have greasy hair and washing more will probably just make it worse and more heat damager drying it. I've never been happy with my thick, greasy and damaged hair.
