    Oh!

I wash my hair every 4 days. I find if I wash it more frequently it becomes greasier quicker. It behaves much better when it's not freshly washed.

I shower every day though - that's what those nice frilly shower caps were invented for!!

Every third day for me, fine hair, tends to be dry and with a sensitive scalp. I don't live/work in a smelly or dirty environment (country dweller) and don't get grubby or sweaty so this suits my hair and scalp best. When I worked in a city it had to be daily or every second day though. Too much heat and styling products are not great for my hair and I don't have a style that I can just wash and go.

WOW!!!!! Washing it everyday will strip the natural oils from your scalp, which actually makes it product even more so your hair is oilier.

Hair produce companies really have brainwashed people.

I wash mine 3 times a week and its fine, since I don't work down a coal mine, its not dirty.

Piggwiggy can I ask? Since you find washing your hair less as its disgusting, how do you manage going to the loo? Do you strip and wash every time? If you find no washing your hair everyday disgusting how do you managed the other end which really is unhygienic?

I have long, thick wavy hair, and I wash it every 4 days or so (sometimes more, sometimes less). It gets shampooed and conditioned, sometimes I give it an additional "boost" with a conditioning treatment as it's quite frizzy.

If I wash it any more, it becomes greasy. I could never wash my hair every day :eek:

As a child (many decades ago) we had a "bath night" and this included washing our hair. We didn't have running hot water in those days so we all had to use the same bath water - me first as I was the youngest - poor Dad got in last with just a top-up of a kettle of hot water.

I do now wash my hair every day under the shower, but as mentioned above all the modern shampoos just strip the oil from your hair which encourages the oil glands to go into overdrive. I seem to remember we used Pears soap for everything and our skin was lovely and soft and our hair was soft and shiny.

The modern obsession with antiseptic this and biological that I'm sure is the reason for so many allergies - nobody develops natural immunities to anything.

I disagree with this. I always washed my hair every day, no conditioner and let it dry naturally, and it was always in excellent condition (hairdressers commented on it).

Las year I decided to try and train my hair into being washed every second day. I did so for a full year, so plenty enough time, but all that happened was that I had dirty hair every second day, which then started going dry, and I had to use conditioner.

I've gone back to washing every day. My hair is happier and healthier for it.

I wash mine every day and use the second cheapest shampoo the supermarket has and my prone to being greasy hair looks great.

Well obviously I shower every day, and I tend to only do a number 2 just before I shower anyway.

I wash mine every day too - I wouldn't choose to not wash any other bits so why would my head be any different?

I use a normal shampoo - Elvive or Philip Kingsley - and then a conditioner. I have shoulder length hair and have always washed it every day with no adverse effects.

I'm the same, washed it every day since early teens, 10 years now and my hair is in great condition. I have quite fine hair too

I wash my hair everyday, I can't stand the feeling of a dirty scalp and it always smells bad to me too if it's not washed, I go running or do an exercise video most mornings and my head gets quite sweaty so it would be gross not to wash it.
I know people say it's bad to wash it everyday and that stripping the natural oils will make it oilier, but it's not particularly oily anyway, I just wash it because I don't like the feeling of an unwashed head lol.
My hair is in great condition - although washing everyday does seem to make my hair dye fade quicker.

Edit to add: I don't think there's anything wrong with washing your hair less often though, it really is something that comes down to personal preference.
