Who washes their hair everyday?

My skin has been a bit iffy lately, so was thinking that maybe washing my hair every evening and changing pillow cases every night might help clear my skin a bit.
I need some sort of conditioner when I wash my hair as it's so fine it gets tangled/knotted quite bad when it's wet. So when I wash my hair, I generally use a conditioner and detangler spray.0 -

Hair produce companies really have brainwashed people.
I wash mine 3 times a week and its fine, since I don't work down a coal mine, its not dirty.
Piggwiggy can I ask? Since you find washing your hair less as its disgusting, how do you manage going to the loo? Do you strip and wash every time? If you find no washing your hair everyday disgusting how do you managed the other end which really is unhygienic?
I have been washing my hair every day since I was about 15 and I am in my 60's now. I used to have waist length hair but now it is very short.
Actually your hair does get dirty every day the same as your skin does. Do you wash your face every day? So why not your hair?Transformers wrote: »Actually - that's not what the trichologist told me at the Philip Kingsley clinic. Nor the dermatologist.
The scalp is no different to any other part of the body - it produces sweat etc and the build up of oil and sweat will smell bad if left unwashed.
Yes I have been told by various hairdressers that it is rubbish that washing your hair every day makes it more greasy or damages it.
Hairdressers often comment what good condition my hair is in.
I use any shampoo really - sometimes a baby one but sometimes whatever is cheap.
I can't stand the feeling of unwashed hair. It is itchy and horrible. The only time I don't wash it is when I am ill. I can have a bad migraine and be in bed for 3 or 4 days and just can't wait to have a shower and wash my hair as it feels disgusting. The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -
Every other day for me. I have very fine chin length hair and if I leave it another day it looks awful. I use conditioner every wash and it always looks healthy and shiny.Slightly bitter0

I wash mine everyday and have done for the last 35 years or so. Mine is shoulder length, fine and has blonde bits. I use the loreal shampoo and conditioner for blonde/highlighted hair. I think hair smells of bed if it isn't washed everyday.0

My "mane" seems to be rather different from most posters, it's very coarse and strong and there's plenty of it. (My grandmother was a Native American, so along with being very coarse and almost black when I was younger, it also started going white very early; I've been having my hair coloured for 19 years. Currently going lighter and lighter so that the grey regrowth will show less.)
I wash my hair once a week, sometimes twice; my favourite shampoo is Johnson's Baby Shampoo. After washing, I always use a product called "Uniq1" to smooth it as I dry it and it does wonders to make my hair less unruly. Can't recommend that stuff highly enough. It comes from Australia I believe.“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”

I wash mine every 2-3 days. It's pretty thick and frizzy and washing daily makes it get very lively! I don't have time to wash, dry and style it every day and it doesn't need it. I don't think I'm dirty or disgusting for not washing my hair daily.
On holiday when I'm swimming and getting hot and sweaty I wash it daily, but it usually ends up in pretty crummy condition from it.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I used to wash and blow dry my hair everyday and the condition wasn't great, but I think that was more about the blow drying - I have a pretty thick head of wavy hair that doesn't respond well to daily heat styling.
I don't wash every day now, but unless it's been straightened I would wear tied up on the second day onwards. I often let dry naturally and let its natural wave come out, so it can take the odd session with the straightening irons without looking dry and dull.
Am not convinced it's best for longer hair to wash every day, but equally I know my scalp can get worse (prone to dry itchy patches) if I leave it too long between washes.
I suspect what really messes up hair about washing daily is if you have long hair and use a lot of heat to style, rather than the washing.0 -
If I have put a colour on it that I don't like then I could wash it several times a day until it fades to a more acceptable level. If the colour turns out well I try and leave it for 2/3 days to stop the colour fading. Either way, neither works (even if I switch it around) If I hate the colour it sticks, if I love it, it fades0

Well what I have decided to try is washing my hair every other day. So I washed it last night and I'll wash it again on Thursday night and wash pillow cases. See how it goes. I'm hoping doing this may clear up my skin abit.0

I wash my hair every day as it really needs it! I have short hair which is very unruly and difficult to style, so I use varying products, from mousse to thickening cream to root lift spray. I'm sure my head would itch like mad if I didn't get rid of whatever I've used that day.
Even though my hair is washed and blow-dried every day, it's condition is mostly pretty good. I think it's probably the regular trims that keep it that way, though. I mostly use volumising products, but try to vary my shampoos, between volumising, moisturising and damaged hair varieties.
