I have washed my hair every day for the past 50+ years. It is short and fine, but lots of it and it is happy and healthy. I am not fussy about which shampoo to use either, and generally chop and change. I've only had dandruff once in all that time and that was during the winter when the central heating was on constantly so dried my skin and scalp. A couple of washes with t-gel soon sorted that.
  • I have quite thick naturally wavy hair and wash it every 2-3 days, depending on the heat/whether I've been exercising. I normally use a 'regular' shampoo and conditioner in the week and then at the weekend I use a clarifying shampoo (Lush Rehab) and a hair mask (currently a Pantene one). Hair gets put up in a turban to dry whilst I wash my face and then I apply oil before blow-drying. If I'm straightening it I'll put another pump of oil through it to protect it from the heat as well.

My fringe gets washed every day though otherwise it looks stringy - just over the sink with kids' shampoo and then blow-dried and set with hairspray. I do shower every day too before anyone thinks I'm some unwashed heathen...

  • Disclaimer: even though i wash my hair 2-3 times a week, I shower everday and sometimes twice a day due to summer, sweating, etc. :)

Regards clothes, there's clothes you change every day, but also things like skirts/trousers/cardigans that you wear for several days, no?

Yeuch no, even when I had a sedentary job, every item of clothing changed daily.

Currently in this heat washing my hair twice daily. Once I have sweated ( lovely I know) my hair is dirty.
I do have a very thick mane though, which is currently short, but even when it was long and was a hassle I still washed it daily.

i wash my hair every 2 -3 days dependant on the state of it. My hair is quite long, and thick. Can do without the faff of blow drying/straightening it every day. I do wash myself every morning though.

It does seem strange to me that some people feel the need to change all clothing after only one wear. Glad I don't pay for the electricity or the cost of buying more clothes.

As to the heat, if only it was 23C here! Today it reached the dizzying height of 17C so 23 would be hot. :p

Same here. Obviously I change underwear and anything close fitting such as a t-shirt or vest top daily but jeans, skirts, shirts etc might be worn 2-3 times before they end up in the wash depending how long they've been worn and under what circumstance. Obviously anything dirty is immediately washed but there are times I wear a pair of jeans or trousers for a couple of hours to go shopping or out to lunch so these will be worn again several more times before being washed.

I don't wear the clothes I go out in around the home, I change before going out and as soon as I get home again into something comfortable that I don't mind getting pet hairs on or rolling around in the floor with my grandchildren.

Yes, buy we all pay the environmental impact. And there's a reasonable amount of research to say that such regular clothes washing is entirely unnecessary (e.g. http://theconversation.com/the-dirt-on-clothes-why-washing-less-is-more-sustainable-11531).

I'm sorry but wearing the same pair of jeans at least 5 times a week for three months is disgusting. I understand that not everyone feels the need to wear clean clothes every single day and I don't think any less of them for that, but three months...seriously??
