I have short hair which is very unruly and difficult to style, so I use varying products, from mousse to thickening cream to root lift spray. I'm sure my head would itch like mad if I didn't get rid of whatever I've used that day.
Even though my hair is washed and blow-dried every day, it's condition is mostly pretty good. I think it's probably the regular trims that keep it that way, though. I mostly use volumising products, but try to vary my shampoos, between volumising, moisturising and damaged hair varieties.
Oh, when I had short hair I definitely washed and dried every day - like you I used more products then, and once it had been slept on, it was quicker to wash and re-style than try to get it back into shape without washing.
I now have mine a bit beyond shoulder length - drying it and straightening it takes a good twenty minutes to half an hour, and if I leave it to dry naturally to let the curl come out, it takes at least an hour and really closer to two to be fully dry. Don't always have the time for that.0 -
I wash every 2 -4 days. Sometimes stretches to 7 days if I haven't used product. My hair takes quite a while to get greasy... and it looks terrible on the wash-day. I always wash it in the evening so it has time to settle and not be so frizzy. Second or third day hair is always my good hair day.0

The scalp is no different to any other part of the body - it produces sweat etc and the build up of oil and sweat will smell bad if left unwashed.
I was going to mention this was his advice. However, I also find that apart from elastacizer extreme the products aren't that brilliant for my hair either. My father saw him so e years ( fine, straight hair, prone to dandruff) and found the advice and range brilliant. I was given an appointment to help control my unruly hair and found the products and advice made it fluffy and flyaway. I then started doing more research into how others cope with my sort of hair and never looked back ( and its very different to Kingsley advice). But I think its a sort of do what suits YOU and YOUR hair thing and you might have to try a few things and not be afraid to change routines occasionally incase you find something better.
I recently tried shampooing more often, ( I have been a 'lo poo' person for some time, shampooing only when my hair is highlighted, and co washing in between or shampooing if its needed ( rarely). ) its been worth experimenting with. I know my hair looks better under a low poo regime, but I think I have been lazy about which conditioners I have been using and can do better. Going back to shampooing I've found my scalp is itchy very quickly and my hair is knotting terribly. Yet i have been enjoying the 'ritual' and idea of shampooing. Its very hard sometimes to let go of what we think to follow what evidence shows works for us:o0 -
Usually every two or three days. I use body shop shampoo, sometimes mixed with a bit of mandarin shower gel to make it smell nice.
When I go away I buy solid shampoo, I get it from ebay. Last time I got one that was a castor oil base and it was horrible, made my hair really greasy. I won't be going back to that seller!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Yes, every day, and i wash my bum every day, my dinky, my legs, my arms, my face and i even clean my teeth too.
I guess it is a little different for women with big hair, but i guess they could always get it chopped down a bit.0 -

I use the Lush ones - a bar lasts me a good 2 or 3 months! My hair is about mid thigh length so really quite long (I'm short as well!). You have to be careful not to get them too wet and you really don't need much, I just run it down my hair once or twice. I did pick up some from a market stall in Bakewell a little while back but I've only used that bar once so can't comment on how long it lasts.0 -
I wash my hair every other day. Only times I wash daily is when I'm on holiday or its hot weather such as end June/early July.
I rotate shampoo as if I wash with the same shampoo, my hair goes dull and flat.
Use Aussie leave in conditioner as normal rinse out stuff makes my thick hair itchy. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
If I'm not on holiday I wash my hair 2-3 times a week, I'm really trying to keep it at 2 but summer heat is not helping. I've got thick, wavy, frizzy hair and my out-of-bath hair is like sheep wool (not kidding) so I have to do something with my hair everytime I wash it and quite frankly that would damage my colourtreated hair badly
So dry shampoo is my hair's bestfriend. I really like Lee Stafford's dry shampoo, currently on my 3rd bottle:j
