OSPS cashback help

  • You have it spot on I'm afraid - though all but one of my contracts is no hassle still (send some ordinary post where I have a safeguard). It's the IIC who took over in the summer. A clever !!!!!! who doesn't give a damn and just wants to improve their figures without understanding the actual consequences - or caring about them. As long as you cover yourself and really know what you're doing it's safe enough - otherwise WATCH OUT!!
  • mobilejunkey,

thanks for the reply. Just phoned them up AGAIN, and the lady said the cheque was processed on Dec 3, raised on Dec 5, and I should get it within the next 7-15 days. Should I wait in this time frame for the incisive LBA to send out or do it now to hurry up the things a bit?

By the way, I've noticed one can only contact cashback team by email (they have taken out the phone numbers off the website, but still can be contacted on 0871 522 3401 - general enquiries and 0871 522 3404 for cashback).

    All the best,
    Suhoi

Send the LBA now (only costs you a stamp), and give them 7 days to pay.

Give them the extra 7 days though (to allow them to get it to you as they have promised, and to appear reasonable because of the possibility of a delay in the Christmas post) to get the cheque to you.

Then should the cheque not arrive you can press on with your mcol without having to then start off with a LBA, and having to give them another 7 days to pay.
  • Whilst I can't disagree with that advice, I've never known them confirm that a cheque has been raised and then have it fail to arrive. I have any contracts with them and all but one have been fine, so I might wait. However, if this is your only contract and you want to draw a line in the sand it's no bad thing to do, as Quentin suggests.

i rang today and they said i'd had 2 cheques raised - 1 for the first disputed claim and 1 for the 2nd claim i sent last week.

so i assume all is okay with mine now.

Hi Burnoutbabe. I have had a very similar dispute to you (see posts on previous page).

Can you tell me for the 2nd claim (which they have acceped) did you send the cashback claim in the window they seem to want (ie most recent bill at 180 days from "order" date) or did you send the cashback claim as seems to be suggested in the terms and conditons (ie the bill showing that you have been connected for 180 days - calculated from connection/porting date).

I am interested because they have disputed my first 120 day claim and whilst they make their mind up, the 2nd claim is fast approaching (particulary if they calculate from the order date)

can anyone tell me that if it is possible to add an o2 bolt-on (e.g. the 200m web bolt-on etc) to my osps price match contract (cpw o2), would this affect my cashback redemption? thx

    It probably is ok.

But with the present climate of osps using any possible way to deny paying out it would be better to ask them and get their reply in writing, as any reply you get here won't have any "official" status as far as osps are concerned.

and cheque 1 arrived today :)

the 2nd claim, i sent my 12th Nov bill that was the most recent one as at the 180 days of "order date" of 21st May (ie 6 months later is 21st Nov).

i don't quite get it, but thats what they say they want and is on their system and they have approved.

I had a very similar dispute to you.

Ordered phone (pricematch) on 1 June and not connected until 18 June. For the first cashback (120 days) I sent the bill dated 28 Sep on 11 Oct - this was returned by OSPS as too early. I accepted this and resubmitted my claim on 7 Nov (bill dated 28 Oct) but received letter 3 weeks later to say my claim had been received too late.

Sent LBA and today (4 days before deadline) I had a phone call from OSPS to say they had reviewed my claim and decided that the earlier claim made on 11 Oct was correct and a cheque had been raised accordingly. Girl from OSPS advised me to send 2nd claim (bill dated 28 Nov) in straightaway so that they would receive it by 28 Dec

This is the first time I have had any problem with a cashback claim in 5 years. Everything seems to have been sorted for the time being.
