Nigel o'hara

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with website Nigel O'Hara. I recently bought a dining bench from Nigel O'Hara for around £500 which I opted to pay on interest free credit via their site which turned out was through Close Brothers (who I have heard of actually).
But I never heard from Nigel O Hara so I contacted them and asked them about the item. They were very polite and apologised and said they were still waiting for the item and would let me know when it came in...but over a month on I'm still waiting for the item!
However, the credit instalments are now being taken out of my bank. I did a quick google search on the site (which I know I should have done before I purchased) and it's not looking good
Some customers say they waited ages, some say they had no problems and some say it's a scam site. I still get very legit looking emails from them about new goods etc and I just don't know whether to stop the payments and how easy that will be (will I be refunded the instalments or be penalised?) or just hope it all turns out well. Right now I feel sick in the pit of my stomach thinking it might be a scam...
Any advice or does anyone have any experience with them. Thank you in advance for your responses

Contact the finance company. They're jointly liable for the performance of the contract (there are some exceptions but from what you've said, they don't apply in this case).
Read MSE's section 75 article for more informationYou keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
So they were a jewellers ..... and added technology ....... and now furniture! I bought a watch from them 18 months ago and it became obvious that they don't stock items, they order only when a customer orders from them. My purchase took about a week longer than originally quoted, but it was an exceptional price and a genuine item so worth the faff of chasing them. If they were overstretched as jewellers they might be biting off more than they can chew now that they have diversified further. It's up to you whether you are prepared to wait, or would prefer to cancel and source elsewhere.0

The effects of defaulting on a credit agreement can be significant and last for years.0 -

Nigel seems to be more concerned with PR than actually improving his service. Entirely laudable to aim to grow your business, but only if you can maintain a good level of service to your customers.
Still can't seem to stop my spammy emails from Nigel. One purchase and 1000+ emails. Hey Ho!0 -
Thanks for all the replies:beer:
I think I would be happy to wait for the item (it really was good value for money) if it's all legit. It's just the lack of communication that makes me really nervous.
I think I'll contact them again tell them I need a date for the item or will cancel the order and then contact the finance peeps to let them know that the order was cancelled because there was no item in stock.0 -
I recently bought a wireless router through them, dirt cheap price, but had to wait. They kept me informed of the delay, offered either alternative product at further reduction, or straight cancellation. I chose to hold on, item arrived ahead of expected schedule, brand new, sealed box, and all was fine.
For the price, I couldn't fault them, even with the delay.0 -
Just an update: a woman from customer services phoned. She apologised and said the item was being drop-shipped which meant it was being sent directly from the manufacturer, she said it was expected to come in the next week and she was chasing it up for me. She just seemed really nice, authentic and polite and I'm feeling a lot more confident and optimistic about the order now!
I'll wait until next week and let you know if it ever comes in!
Thanks again for everyone's replies :j0 -
I've just ordered something from them (3/4 days ago) and have received no estimated receipt times or anything. Seems like a bit of a joke of a company to be honest.
Will not be using them again!0
