Hi I have been trying to claim my PPI back from Welcome and after printing off and filling in the forms from Martins Money Tips sent them to Welcome complaints office at address I obtained from my local office they sent me back identical forms to fill in. My thoughts were ok they are playing for time but I filled them in and sent them off registered as before and I got a letter of confirmation that my complaint was being looked into and I would hear within four weeks, three weeks later I have just got a letter and new loan aggreement giving me back the full 1,454.00 back that I had paid so reducing my balance. Also my payments have gone down by 98.00 per month. RESULT thanks Martin you should be prime minister.:j

    Hi and welcome.

That is fab, well done, great work and Congratulations.:T:beer::j

I have been busy. In the first place, over the past 20 years running up unsecured debt of £62,000 from different sources and recycling that with new loans and cards. Keeping up payments of £2,300p.c.m. has been a huge pressure and burden - felt at breaking point many times. I did not want to declare myself insolvent/bankrupt.

And then I have been busy since 2003 trying to change my financial situation and now recently reclaiming every penny of PPI I was mis-sold which was a huge amount of the debt repayments and interest. I am so grateful to Martin and everyone linked to this site as it helped me to pursue the mis-selling of PPI. In fairness I used the template from the Which website, but have used this site to keep motivated and up-to-date on how various lenders are handling genuine complaints.

Reclaiming may have been easier for me as I am self-employed and cancelled all the PPI contracts I could in 2008 when I realised they were not going to pay out to me if I had a reason to claim. For each complaint there were between 4-7 reasons, including being pressured to buy and lack of information etc. But I would encourage anyone with a complaint to use the templates here, believe that there are multiple reasons and then to be persistent.

My question is the prospective amount of £61,200 in total the biggest amount of mis-sold PPI reclaimed by one person? This is the target I have based on my evidence and already have £33,000 agreed in settlement or paid 10 weeks since I started to reclaim. It's a dubious accolade and maybe nothing to be proud of as I paid it, but maybe motivational to others who want to get their money back which was taken from them unfairly and illegally.

I wanted to provide an update of progress to add to the database here:

Egg Plc Credit Card: sent letter April 2010 and two weeks later received offer then a payment of £1,107 into my card account.

Egg Loans: awaiting response for PPI reclaim of £500.

Alliance & Leicester: sent letter April 2010 and then received an offer of £2,425 and now awaiting the settlement cheque.

Lloyds TSB Loandirect: I was reluctant to claim as it was my own bank and thought it would affect my rating or standing, but based on assurances in this website, I have claimed for three loans dating back to Feb '07 and Oct '02 and my credit card (below). After 7 weeks, received offers for all three loans including simple interest, which I estimate to be £16,550 in total. LTSB are asking me to sign their agreement based on the method of the calculation which follows FOS guidelines, as they want to be sure that the amount is accurate right up to the date of signature.

LLoyds TSB Advance: Sent claim, received letter confirming settlement offer for lifetime of the card since 2000, which will sign and send, again they have not provided a settlement amount rather want me to agree to the principle which I am happy to do. I calculate this to be £6,480 including simple interest.

Barclaycard: Sent claim for PPI payments from 1989. They have said that they will only pay for 4 years of the claim as they "are required to keep records for 6 years". In the same call however was told told that their records show I have had PPi since 2001 - asked them how they could comment if they only have records for 6 yrs and the woman could not comment. Considered sending data discolsure demand - told them that I have statements dating back to early 1990's and they told me that they would honour any claim where there is proof of payment history - may not have every statement but that I would provide as much as I can. Working in Middle East at moment and will search the statements stored in the attic in a couple of weeks, believe I have statements back to 1993. On this basis my estimate is for claim of £21,375 including simple interest at 8%.

Barclaycard loans: Sent complaint 10 weeks ago, sent two reminders - nothing back yet, not even acknolwedgement. Considering next steps. PPI claim is circa £2,400.

RBS/ Natwest Visa - sent letter, received two letters back stating they were looking for more information. Called yesterday and told they will send the settlement offer next week. I calculate with interest this is £10,735.

If this goes as it appears to be going I will be debt-free in four weeks time.

Who is going to nominate Martin for the New Year's honours list?
PPI compensation claims paid: Egg Card: £1,107, Alliance & Leicester: £2,425
PPI claims agreed: Lloyds TSB Loansdirect: £16,551, Lloyds TSB Advance Card: £9,360
    PPI claims pending: RBS/NatWest Visa Gold Card: £10,734, Barclaycard: £9,375, Barclaycard loans: £2,400, LTSB (4 loans, '90s): £11,670, M&S: £1,351. Plus..
    TOTAL PPI reclaim: £67,000

I am in a similar position to you but x2 debt wise - all unsecured.
I too have wrestled with it for many years(10+) and have just this week run out of money to service them and have contacted CCCS re best way forward - bankruptcy/IVA etc.
I need to read up further / get more advice on this and if it applies to my accounts.
Most are credit cards approx half have PPI ,one is a secured loan via northern rock which has ppi.
I also have had other loans in the past which have been paid off which hadd ppi.
Your post gives me renewed hope.

    Thanks
