Hi there
Its the ones who sold and set up the policy who are responsible, but what you could do is contact the Financial ombudsman service (FOS) explain that your given the runaround and ask if they could write to who's responsible on your behalf.
They should do this on your request and this way they should not mess about, the FOS will know who is responsible when you explain your situation.
Good luck, please keep us posted.:)

Hi there new to this & looking for some advice ,made a complaint about ppi through one of these easy claim companies as i didnt know much about it myself anyway just had letter from them after going to the FOS my complaint has not been upheld. The adjudicators notes state that when i took out my credit card via a postal application in 2001 i had ticked the relevant box indicating i wanted to take out PPI & the costs where outlined on the documents so i was provided with sufficient info to make informed decision. As i have had this card for a number of years & used it extensively the money i have paid would be quite a large sum, would there be any point in me continueing with my case? any advice would be most welcome0

Hi and welcome.
Sorry to hear this.
Does the Adjudicator from the FOS mention that you could request for this to be reviewed at all?
You do normally get this opportunity, so if they have not mentioned this, then I would contact them to ask about this.
May I ask if you know if the agreement application was ticked by you, or was it ticked by them in means of word processor?
Many use to think that PPI was all part of the policy and it had to be taken to be accepted, if this is your case you could argue on that, and for instance I used to think it was and used to think if cancelled then I would have to repay the full balance, as the policy was never explained to me.
Personally, I would try to keep going if you can.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
thanks ,do have the option of appealling within 21 days & to add any comments or paperwork to help my claim unfortunately with it being so long ago i dont have any paperwork ive checked, also the company i used basically think i dont have a strong enough case to continue & must do it on my own if i want to take it further. You know what these sharks are like if they thought they could get their cut they would appeal it for me0

Hi there
Personally I would do it myelf anyway, so you can of course do this all free with help from this site, also check out further info on the link here and the guidelines of reclaiming:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
And another thing, if you did not have any paperwork, did you try requesting for any of it?
The FOS was obviously passed further information to work by for the investigation.
An SAR may provide you further information, but mainly only go back the last 6 years but.........saying that, many have still received info going back to even earlier than that, my hubby (different bank) when he requested a SAR he was lucky to receive details going back to the late 90's.
Its a chance you take but you never know.
With a SAR (Subject access request), they have 40 calender days to comply but you enclose a payment of £10 cheque or postal order.
SAR letter template here if your interested and not requested one as yet.

Then of course you can have a go yourself, and you will only be paying out for the posting (recorded delivery is recommended, for your proof of delivery), and of course £10 if you decide to request for a SAR.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
