PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I wrote to Halifax claiming mis-selling on my CC on 25th May 2010.
I got a letter back on 4th June, sorry you are unhappy with PPI, further to my investigation and as you are such a valued customer (aren't we all) "I have decided to pay you an amount which will put you back in the position you would have been had you not taken the insurance."
You will hear from our redress team in next 14 days.
Saturday morning I got a cheque for £355 (no breakdown).
Didn't expect a lot as I cancelled soon after realising that I was paying PPI but great, quick result thanks to all you guys'n'girls on this site :T
Still got various Egg, FP and Nationwide running
Keep you updated

Hi Luby
You can complete the FOS questionnaire or do a letter, or do both if you want to, such as a cover letter in your own words with further information.
These I believe would have to be dealt with separately, as they all have their own account numbers, especially if completing the questionnaire.
You could though (if you have the same reasons for being mis sold on all accounts) write a letter and make sure you enclose all the account numbers they apply to, but if you do complete the FOS questionnaire I "think" this would have to be completed separately.
These were issued by the financial ombudsman service (FOS) for customers to use and they are quite new, complete and keep copies, you will fine on Stage one further down the page on link below:

And template letter on link below.

Take your pick if you want.
They have 8 weeks to get back to you with a decision and post by recorded delivery, this is your proof of posting.
(You could enclose all in the same envelope to save money on the posting).;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Blimey they are taking their time, I expect its because they are overloaded with these complaints.
Did they also state you can take your complaint to the FOS if you want to, as the 8 weeks have passed?
I know it maybe worth holding on until the extra time, so hopefully there will be a good result to come from this, fingers crossed.;)
I had the standard letter after 8 weeks stating that they would respond in another 4 weeks ( which has now passed) that advised me of my right to refer my case to the FOS with a leaflet enclosed, but I want to give them the opportunity to investigate my claim before I contact the ombudsman. I will only go down that route if I do not get the result that I am expecting.0 -

Hi
And I agree with you, it could be worth waiting the extra time, because I am aware once with the FOS the bank may even stop the investigations, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Recieved a letter from HSBC yesterday regarding 4 loans (all top ups) Ive had with them previously
The 8 week deadline was on the 16th June, and the letter recieved yesterday said they are looking into the details and will take a further 4 weeks
When taking out the loans the first one back in 2003 was taken out in Devon and then the final one in 2006 was taken out in Manchester
Should i just leave it now until a further 4 weeks as passed and see what the outcome is then
Just to keep you guys updated, had a call from a girl called Danielle who was just asking me some questions to clarify matters regarding my loans
I had 4 in total first one taken out in 2003 last one taken out in 2006 and due to be paid off in the next 13 months.
She wanted to know if I was claiming for all 4 loans or just the one taken out in 2006, I was claiming for all 4.
She then went on to say that I should recieve a letter next week with regards to the outcome
Nervous now0 -
Hello there, I wonder if I could have a bit of advice please. I am trying to reclaim ppi for a policy that was sold alongside my mortgage with Barclays (previously Woolwich). My initial letter was sent in July 2009 and they are still dealing with it although the claim has not moved any further but seems to be being pushed from one department to another. I now don't know whether to get the FOS involved and if so would it delay things further or do I let Barclays carry on dealing with it? My mortgage was taken out in July 1998 and finished with the policy in October 2004. Any advice is greatly appreciated. There is also a second standalone policy that was sold by the advisor at the time which I have also asked them to investigate.0

Hi there
First of all good luck to this.
I would contact the FOS as a general query on this and see what they have to say, as the business have had ample time.
See what the FOS suggest I think is your best option here at the moment.
