PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi,
Just to update every one, I contacted Halifax about a loan I opened in 2000, contacted them by phone on 17th May, with the intention of getting addresses etc to write letters. Didn't need to as they did all questions over phone, wrote to me on 20th May to confirm they upheld my complaint aren't admitting it was there fault, but the credited my account on the 28th May with £819.54.
Well pleased, treated myself to a new outfit, pair of shoes and a few necessities.
Just the remainder to tackle, I know that John Lewis have said no to my 1st letter on PPI for my credit card, I found this out thru a telephone call, just waiting for the letter to arrive before I send off the second letter. They keep claiming that I took the PPI out separately and looking at my CCA there is no box on the form for PPI. So just have to wait and see the letter before I move forward on that one.
keep you all posted.

Had PPI (they called it a payment break plan) With Sky card now barclaycard.
Was sold it when I was a student and not working. Had specifcally asked them on the phone if I can use it based on my current circumstances and was assured that I could.
Found out later I couldn't of course.
Complained to FSA around April 2009.
Originally rejected my complaint in Oct 09 to failure of proof of what I was told.
Dec 09 pulled out T&C from Skycard that stated that the plan could not be sold to unemployed.
Feb 10 told that 'as a gesture of goodwill' barclaycard will accept my complaint and refund charges.
May 10 - Receeived all charges + interest- even brought my account into credit.0 -

Claiming back mis-sold PPI by HSBC for a loan I took out in 2005
Finally got an offer for the full amount of £6927.37.
It took longer than it should have and I was in contact with the Ombudsman and filling out their forms when the offer came through.
After checking the details I agreed and they paid it into my account with 5 days of acceptance.
My claim was made a little less straightforward as I had defaulted on the original loan and was paying via debt management to a collection agency but I still got my money back by just using the template letters on MSE and a bit of common sense!!
My first complaint letter went to HSBC on 26 Jan 2010. recieved my offer on 24 March 2010
Thanks MSE0 -

Hi all,
I'm new to posting on here but a long time observer so would like to thank all the people who give advice, it really has helped!
Using the template from this site I have sent letters to reclaim PPI on a Credit Card (Natwest), a loan (Natwest) and my wife's loan (Barclays). So far I have had success on the 2 loans (£6,000 in total!!) but been knocked back with the Credit Card (maybe it's easier to claim from a loan than Credit Card??). After receiving a final decision from Natwest (RBS) saying they were happy that the policy was not mis-sold I forwarded my case to the FOS.
Does anyone know how long it is currently taking the FOS to come to a decision? I have just returned the questionnaire that they sent me.
Many thanks...0 -

Hello there and welcome.
First of all Congratulations on your success.
With the FOS, this can vary, but within just a few weeks you should receive the acknowledgement letter from the FOS, to confirm receipt of your complaint, and they will then inform you they will be in touch about 2 months on to let you know where they are with your case.
You seem to be correct in saying that its more difficult on a credit card than that of loan ppi, I think most have experienced this.
But timescales with the FOS are difficult to predict, due to the large volumes of these complaints, some can take a matter of weeks, once passed on to an adjudicator, where others have taken over a year or so, depending as well if its a complexed case or not.
However, I do believe as well they can try to resolve the complaint before the adjudicating stage, hopefully it will all go straight forward for you, good luck.:)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hello lovely people, have just received news from FOS that due to their intervention Royal Bank of Scotland (Natwest) have decieded to refund all Credit card PPI in line with the FOS pay back guidlines. Very Happy!
Has anyone got a time scale that Natwest take to calculate and refund claims? Thanks.x
