    Hi there

    Thanks for this update.

Have you tried contacting the Financial compensation scheme (FSCS) to ask if they are listed with these?
If they are then you will be able to make a claim through these, as I did with a company that went bust who I taken a loan out with a few years back.

    http://www.fscs.org.uk/contact-us/

If they are not listed with these, then contact the FOS anyway and they should be able to advise what direction to take, normally it will then be with the insurer/underwriter.

Please keep us posted, good luck.;)

think i might be banging my head against a brick wall as contacted the financial ombudsman and they say go back to first plus as the fscs say they can only consider claims if the misselling was given after the 14th january and my advice was given in nov 2004.

Yes I know what you mean, but normally they then suggest the insurer/underwriter direction instead, its been like this for a lot of us on here, I would actually bring this up yourself if they don't.;)

I have spent most of the weekend reading and reviewing the success stories and would like to know if their has been many success when appealing against PPI for hire puchase scheme's for cars. I purchased my car a few years ago and still paying with PPI on top of it. At the time it was in an evening and the car salesman basicly told me he was making an offer which he could not replicate on another day and that with the PPI included would be cheaper than if I can back the next day, so I agreed and took signed up. With my work I would have been entitled to both redundancy pay and sick pay had the need arisen. Is this a case of mis-selling by dangling the carrot of the cost? Any help would be appreciated.

    Martin, you are the man

I read through the guide and thought I'll give that a go as I had being paying PPI for 4 years on a loan for a car from the Alliance and Leicester. What with all the Abbey National/Santander takeovers I thought I'd be lucky if they even remembered me, except to take repayment.

After starting the process a long while back the first two letter failed to gain a response and I gave up. However I came back here in April and copied the template, filled the survey for the Financial Ombudsman and posted the lot off again about 3 weeks ago for another try. Within a week the reply came that they were looking into my complaint then yesterday I recieved a letter saying that in light of my complaint and the fact I must have missed some mail in the change over from A&L to Santander they were prepared to pay me compensation of: £1271.40.... :j

This was made up of PPI payments refund for 4 years and 8% annual interest. Also with a year left on my loan my repayments have dropped about £30 with the cancellation of the PPI.

Now I have to decide what to do with the offer.....

I had 2 loans l took out with HFC and repaid in full in 2004, have now gone to FOS as they state destroyed paper records as over 6 years old. But noticed on thread Cocomco123 have just been settled. Have now written back to them stating not disputing signing original paperwork as pressurised by pushy salesman as told we had to have when we informed had full sick pay etc. And been advised they have all details on microfilm
