FOS found in my favour for Egg PPI sold on-line in 2004. Egg were very fast in crediting my refund of £4.3k to my bank account.

Egg received acceptance from FOS on 13 May, money in my account on 20 May, that's really efficient although I have waited 18 months for the complaint to be resolved. Haven't yet received letter with breakdown of payment but it is £800 more than I was expecting so I am very happy.

WOW, absolutely fantastic!!! :j:j about time as well, Congratulations! Give yourself a treat as well, with all that waiting its the least you deserve.;)

hello there, wonder if anybody can give me advice on where to go as 5 years ago i took out a secured loan with first plus through a broker thats went bust. on trying to reclaim my ppi i they said i did,nt have a case even though i paid the premium for 5 years and i got no joy with the financial ombudsman or the financial compensation scheme, anyone any ideas on my next step if any.

    Hi and welcome.

Right now I take it then the broker was not regulated where the FSCS are unable to deal with them then?

Do you mind posting up on whom the broker is please? Cheers.

Now what I would do now in this case - is contact the Financial ombudsman service anyway, and ask is there another direction you can take.

I'm surprised the FOS have not suggested the insurer/underwriter, because for many they have for being in the same situation.

Give them a ring and explain your circumstances and ask if your able to try the insurer direction instead then, they will I think suggest this.

The insurer/underwriter would have been regulated so the FOS would therefore be able to adjudicate against the insurer if they also say no.

To check on whom the insurer is or was request for the "Insurance policy details" from First Plus (as the broker is unable to supply these as they are no longer running) and FP should send you these details in the post.

You then write to them as you did with the broker or complete the new recently issued questionnaire by the FOS to send to them, you will find this on the link below of stage one of the reclaiming.

Do also ring the FOS though first and take it from there, good luck and please let us know what they say.

    Hi and not a problem.

I will mention though - that they don't always enclose the "insurer details" with the loan documents, this is where this can confuse, they are to what I know of to be requested separately and in my experience its just a insurance policy document of about 4/5 pages of the insurer only.
And the procedures of how to complain to them.

So it could be the case of writing to the lender (FP) to ask them to supply these to you.;)

    Hi Dec,

Do you mind me asking if this was a CC? I had a CC with Egg and when I questioned the PPI they told me it was sold to me online and therefore all the facts were available to me.

    Thank,

Hi all I had a response from citifinancial bank today on a secure loan I have paid off. Their reply states I did not have PPI but instead mortgage guarantee insurance, surely the same. I wrote speculativley as couldn't remember what insurance I had, they have said in their letter today that mortgage guarantee insurance is compulsory on large secured loans, yet I do not have this on my main mortgage. Can they force me to have any insurance? Think I might request a SAR as do not have any paperwork so do not know if this is their name for PPI any advice welcome please

    Hi there

I would personally post this one on a thread below a separate one (stay within the PPI reclaiming thread" subject as "Help on Mortgage Guarantee Insurance please", where Dunstonh and/or MagpieCottage will not miss this and will offer some information and advice for you.

    Good luck.;)

Just would like to post my success with Barclays bank for a personal loan with PPI claim.

Using the templates from mse i sent them to barclays bank claiming my PPI payments back from a loan that i took out 6 years ago.

Yesterday i received a phone call from barclays, confirming that they would uphold my complaint and today i received a cheque for £4661.87, this is the premuim of £3091.08 plus the interest that i paid on this of £774.86 and £1301.49 in interest on the payments at 8%.

I am currently persuing barclaycard and halifax as well for credit card PPI payments, i would recommend that anyone shud do this as i was surprised at how swift this settlement was agreed.

I started this on the 31 march and within 6 weeks i am happy with the cheque that i have received.:j:j
