Another Egg success to report... Having decided to try and reclaim the PPI on my own old Egg card and Egg loan account I had a quick review of some of the OH's old financial docs and realised that he paid for PPI of £1,100 when he took out an Egg loan in 2006. This loan was paid off last year and he hadn't even realised that he had had PPI - he was under the impression that the additional amount represented the interest on the loan.

We emailed Egg through their secure messaging facility on 10th May and received a letter later that week saying that they were looking at it. Yesterday (the 19th) he received a further letter saying that they would repay the £1,100 plus £253 interest. The letter was careful to avoid any suggestion that the PPI had been mis-sold.

An excellent result all round, so many thanks to all at MSE!

    Wow, well done and Congratulations!:T:beer::j

    Hi All,

Thanks to the advice and templates, I have just recieved an offer from Clysdale (Yorkshire Bank) of £6321.92!!!!
They have been a bit tight with the interest - only 1.5% - But I'm going to take it anyway as it helps me out massively....It took two letters and tons of phone calls, with the first letter being sent in November 2009 but I got there in the end.

I do have another question that I was hoping you could help me with..There are two old loans that they looked at as well (I asked them in the first letter to look into all loans I had taken with them) but they say they can't determine if either had PPi applied to them as they don't have paperwork. Any ideas as to what I should do next??? They have supplied me the account numbers so should I SAR them or go straight to the FOS? I'm pretty sure there was PPI on them but I couldn't swear to it...

Any help would be greatly recieved..Thanks again everyone and keep up the great work..

    Multay...;0)

Fantastic :T:j well done and Congratulations!

Thanks for the reply. I will give them until next week and then call them to make sure they have received my acceptance form. Hopefully, as it is a straightforward pay out, rather than a loan restructuring, it shouldn't take too long.

I sent my original letter to them on the 20th March, so its taken just over 8 weeks from my letter to their offer.

I am truly amazed! Just checked my bank and the money has been transferred today, I only put the acceptance form in the post on Monday. I feel a good spend coming on this weekend and I now have my spending money sorted for my little holiday in three weeks!

Thanks everyone on here for your fab advice and help as always!

No.2 came in from Lloyds today.

    Provider: Lloyds TSB
    Amount paid:£2,805.90
    Story
One letter and a rapid reply. Cant fault Lloyds and the speed they have dealt with the claim. They accepted that I was in a job that would pay out 6 months full pay if sick and due to length of service a substantial redundancy payment would be due. I therefore argued I didnt need the level of cover sold to me.

So 2 down 2 to go!

  • Success from Abbey CC this morning. Started process in Nov 2009, CC account credited with £972.41 today. I'm not sure where they got the figure from, but Im happy, I really thought I'd get nothing back.

DH has been doing the maths. He thinks I should have at least double that figure. But I'm happy to have it so I wont go any further.

FOS found in my favour for Egg PPI sold on-line in 2004. Egg were very fast in crediting my refund of £4.3k to my bank account.

Egg received acceptance from FOS on 13 May, money in my account on 20 May, that's really efficient although I have waited 18 months for the complaint to be resolved. Haven't yet received letter with breakdown of payment but it is £800 more than I was expecting so I am very happy.
