    Hi,
I would like to reclaim my husbands PPI on his Barclayloan, but we have just applied to remortgage with the Woolwich and I'm worried that this might go against us. Barclays offered me a preapproved barclayloan on our internet banking site at 7.9%, which was quite good, we decided to consolidate debt and take it, we did and the papers came through to sign and a statement to say that the loan would go through in my account in 2 days, I signed the form and didn't tick for PPI and returned it to them, it didn't go into my account and when I rang up they said that something had come up and I didn't qualify.
We had foolishly made committments for the money so when they offered my husband the same Barclayloan, we took it and ticked the box for PPI, it went straight into the account.
We have a joint account with Barclays - the loan is for £25,000 over 9 years and the PPI is £7,500 - does anyone think I will have a case to say I was missold.
    Thank you

    Hello there

Yes, you do possibly have a good case here and don't let anything get in the way of you reclaiming, its your money - you have been deprived of it, now try to get it back in your pocket.

Complete the questionnaire from the link below issued by the financial ombudsman service (FOS), they are quite new, keep copies and send to whom is responsible for setting this up, they have 8 weeks to respond in full.
You can write a cover letter if you want to - but the questionnaires seem to cover all ground of ppi reclaiming.
You will find this on stage one:

Post within the post office - for proof of posting, keep at them.
    Good luck.;)

I began my complaint about PPI mis-sold by Northern Rock (NR) in June 2009, the basis for my complaint was that I was told when I took out my mortgage back in 2001 that I had to have it (which was difficult to prove), also on closer inspection, the policy proved to be not worth the paper it was written on!
I used Martin's templates, but got nowhere with NR, just "we're looking into it" letters. After 8 weeks from my initial letter had passed, I got in contact with the Financial Ombudsman Service and passed all the data I had gathered, and NR's responses so far. The FOS got back to me explaining the process and updated me regularly with their progress. Finally, in March 2010, success! The FOS wrote to say that NR had offered a settlement and that I should expect it to be along the lines of a full repayment of all premiums and 8% interest, but that it could take up to 8 weeks after I had accepted this offer for payment.

Today I received 2 cheques for a total of £2827!

Ok, so it's taken the best part of a year, but don't let this put you off your own complaint, as far as I was concerned, I had nothing to lose. The Financial Ombudsman people were very helpful, and in the end I've got my money back, plus some!

    Hi and welcome

Well done and Congratulations on your success! :T:beer::j

    Hi there

It should not affect your mortgage application - as they cannot discriminate you reclaiming what is rightfully yours what you have been out of pocket for.

However, if you prefer to wait to see what others have to say with their opinions as well if you want to.

Information in the "lending code" they must treat customers fairly.

    Good luck.

  • Bank Loan From HSBC BANK PLC £2770.70 received after a letter;

    Hi,
this ppi reclaim was not actually for me but was one that i did on behalf of a friend at work. After hearing about another colleague who had been contacted by a PPI reclaim company and despite also having success they charged him 25% of is winning fee!
The same day my other friend at work told me he had previously taken out a loan and repaid it in full. So, with my knowledge of this website and the forms to do it yourself i told him we could do it for him, he was keen for me to help as he didn't think he'd be abe to do it alone. So we set to it! First i printed off the relevant letters etc and filled them out accordingly. We sent them off but didnt hear anything for abot wo weeks. They first sent aletter to explain and confirm they had received his complaint and were disappointed about it but were nontheless looking into it. For the next month or so, two more letters were sent explaining they would need more time to process and investigate etc. Following that, the bank actually rang up to speak to my friend to discuss the claim. We decided it be best he put it on loudspeaker so we could both hear and and i could tell him what to say. Anyway, all went sort ofwel and a week later , he received a letter saying that they would be paying him the full amount plus the 8% interest eventhough they did not agree with it. They said they were only paying to settle the case! VERY HAPPY! And it didnt cost a penny!

    Thanks Martin!:j

  • success!! have recieved payment from HSBC for £5225 this includes 8% interest . PPI sold to my husband on a personal loan he paid off 2 years ago. He told them he had just come out of hospital when taking loan and was told he still had to have it to get loan even though he would be unable to claim! Am stii arguing for him for refund of his credit card PPI which he did not even realise he was paying. this is since 1996. Hsbc say he must have known to which I have replied, if he knew, why did he not claim when he was off work and v sick for 2 years after a transplant?? I will go to ombudsman if necessary as they have ripped him off good and proper. good luck to all and a big BIG thanks for the advice and templates x:j:beer:

    Hiya!

well done for getting that! you must be very pleased! How long did it take and did you go via the FOS?. I took out PPI with Yorkshire on a loan and wrote to them in Oct. Got a letter stating that they felt that they were not at fault and that was their final response. Have taken it to the FOS and still waiting....just wonderd how long from start to finish it took for you and did you get any initial reply from the bank stating that they would not pay out/

    warmly and thanks...

    Hi,

It took two letters - The first being the initial claim in November 2009.

I rang them almost every week as well, just make sure that I was being dealt with. They continued to send me letters asking me for more time and I decided to hold off on contacting the FOS..At no point did they say they wouldn't pay out and they actually upheld the complaint. Not the usual "we are not fault but as a gesture of goodwill blah blah" - All went relatively smoothly...

The bit I need help with now is two old loans they say they have no paperwork for - They have the account numbers but can't tell me the PPI amounts on them...Any ideas how to approach this one????

    Cheers,

    Hi there

How long ago was it when you taken out the other 2 loans? (what year), if within the last 6 years, you may be able to request a Subject Access Request (SAR) from their data debt - where they may still hold details on microfiche, there is a cost of £10 postal order or cheque payment for this request, and they have 40 calendar days to comply.

    SAR template here:
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1475553
They MUST comply by law of the Data Protection Act (DPA), but if they are unable to supply anything to you, they must therefore return your payment with a written explanation.

    Hope this helps.;)
