Reclaimed my PPI payment from the Halifax
How much did you get back: just over £700
I got it back by writing a letter

I just received in the post yesterday telling me that I was getting the money back. They refunded the premium, plus the interest of the loan which was 6.5% and the 8% standard interest thingy.

Well pleased, used the default letter on this website and received the response within 3 weeks, fabulous

well doen on getting your money back

What were you reclaiming: PPI on Loan on behalf of my partner
Who was the provider: Tesco Personal Finance
How much did you get back: £1546.74
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After a couple of letters
And then write your brief reclaim tale: I got my partner to cancel his PPI back in 2008 when I first discovered MSE and they were happy to cancel it and refunded some of the PPI. A few months ago we asked how much was outstanding and were a bit surprised that it was almost £2000 more than what we expected. We realised that there was still over £1500 of PPI remaining on the loan so we challenged it ... got back from seeing the Haye vs Ruiz fight in Manchester this morning to a letter from Tesco saying that 'as a gesture of goodwill and without any admission of liability' they were prepared to pay back £1546.74 by cheque within 28 days of reciept of the acceptance form and the monthly payment has been reduced by £15 per month.

... So huge result considering I was expecting them to take it off of the loan account!

    nice one, well done :beer::beer:

Hi everyone, I wanted to post about my PPI success with First Plus. They added PPI to my load telling me that it was like free life insurance for my husband and a great savings account. I was the main account holder and explained that I did not need it. Anyway I followed the template letters on this website, held my resolve when they offered me just over £2000 whilst not admitting any wrong doing and refered the matter to the FSA. Nearly 6 months later we finally got £10,500 back. In between each step I kept coming back to this website and reading the instructions and your posts. They helped a massive amount! Thank you:D

fantastic result, just shows it worth persevering with these claims, even if it does take time.

    • What were you reclaiming: PPI on Loan
    • Who was the provider: Lloydstsb
    • How much did you get back: £2350
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After just 1 letter plus a couple phone calls (but they were nice and friendly)
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale - pretty simple, sent in the letter, I got a letter back saying I could have it back and to sign another letter to agree to them working it out, then it was a waiting game!! original letter was sent in December, got the money back in March. After a few phone calls to chase it up!!
Thank you to all you on MSE that helped me!!! I am over the moon I got it back!! I do believe it was the well worded letter that got it with no probs - and the friendly and helpful support on here!!! My sister had originally sent a letter to the same company and they said no, but then she photocopied mine, added her details and then got hers back within the month!! lol... will put her details here too!!

    My sisters' claim

I was trying to claim back my PPI from Sainsburys in regard to a loan I took out in 2002 for £16,000 which then had there Care plan....£5,032 added to total £21,032 with interest of £5,212 total to be paid back £26,244, I actually finished payments in 2008 and then found this site and put in claim as at the time I took out the agreement I was actually registered disabled (pins and plates in leg).
I have had a letter from Sainsburys 18-1-10 saying sorry and they will look into it, another one sent 11-2-10 saying sorry not had reply yet but they will get one to me no later than 13-3-10 , then had another 22nd sincere apologies and as I am such a valued customer (only thing I have had with them) they have decided to pay me an amount that will put me back in a position I would have been had I not taken out the PPI.

Today i I have just had a letter from Bank of Scotland (Sainsbury's Loan) to say I am being sent a cheque next week for £8,727.85 to redress the PPI.
    Refund of premiums £5,032.00
    Refund of interest £1,246.99
    Compensatory Interest £2,448.86

Just thought I would add mine to the list and thanks to all who responded to my earlier posts and to the site for highlighting it in the first place

A delighted Paul, Now just got to tackle Barclays

  • Just thought I would let you know that I have now received a positive reply from Lloyds/TSB, one week after sending my second letter. I originally requested my ppi back on 26 February 2010 on 2 loans and they have now decided to up hold both of them, after initially saying no to the second loan.

They have said they will be giving me back my ppi of 3498.00 plus 8% interest.

Can anybody tell me does that mean 8% from the start to the finish of the loan or can I calculate up to the date they pay me out.

    Thanks:T

  • forgot to mention I took the loan out in 2003 and finished paying it in 2008.

go on here to calculate the 8% put in the amount paid monthly (ppi) and year, this will keep a running total for you. hope this helps

Well done Michelle, :T:j I had a good feeling they would do this, they had no excuse not to uphold as you did have the same reasons for both.
    Congratulations.
The link amersall added is very helpful, as LLoyds have upheld they should calculate the same way as how the FOS calculates PPI refunds.;)
