    Hi all,

i recently sent of a couple letters off to Egg on a £3000 loan i took out back in 2002. I had no paperwork, no details, nothing only a number which was printed on one of my old bank statements next to the monthly premium.

Just received a letter back today confirming a refund of £537.76 in PPI premiums and £203.94 interest.

Over £700 for 10 minutes work, Template letters came in a treat, thanks heaps moneysavingsexpert.com. If you havent alreay made the effert its definitaly worth a try.

    Cameron.

just wanted to say a HUGE thank you MSE for the idea! to reclaim my PPI from loans dating back to 2000. all i did was simply use and fill out your very helpful letter templates and i ended up being repaid with a cheque for over £5100 !!!!!!!!!!!!

it was a mighty slow process, it took almost one year, my building society kept writing again and again to say they needed more time.

i never thought i would receive that much. never in a month of Sundays.

i advise everyone to do it.. there is nothing much to it. just a few letters and some patience.. my building society didn't even put up much of a fight.

again, i can't believe how easy it was.. i almost felt guilty for reclaiming when i received and banked my cheque.

    • What were you reclaiming: PPI Insurance
    • Who was the provider: Barclays
    • How much did you get back: £4k
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
After reading the guide on MSE, a friend had applied for her PPI back and had success, she gave me some advice and as I keep all important documentation I applied to Barclays for both loans going back to 2000.

It took a bit longer than the schedule advised but in their last letter they expressed that they wanted to resolve the issue before it got to the Financial Ombudsman.

Imagine my shock yesterday when I checked my online banking and found the money in my account, which was a lot more than I was expecting. This morning the letters confirming it have arrived. First thing I did was to pay off the debts I have, and now i think i have enough to get some driving lessons and apply for a car on the Motability scheme.

So can I express a BIG thank you to everyone at MSE for all the help :)

    • What were you reclaiming: PPI Insurance
    • Who was the provider: Lloyds
    • How much did you get back: £7,521.53
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
I've dealt with the same person at Lloyds for many years and every time I've taken out a loan/remortgaged, he's arranged it so that there's PPI on it. He's never asked whether I wanted it and never told me I had it. I couldn't have claimed even if I'd needed to, since I wasn't aware I had it. He's now on gardening leave.

Lloyds have upheld 5 PPIs on loans. Others are with the FOS because of the length of time Lloyds have spent dithering about.

One funny thing is though, that I added a sentence 'and any other PPIs on any other loans prior to July 2002' (when my internet banking records started). I had actually only claimed for one of these five missold policies - the others dated from 1999 to 2002 and Lloyds paid them back without my asking directly for them.

Now just waiting for the FOS to contact me.

I wrote my own letters because my case was so complicated, but have to say this site is amazing, and the letters provided by Martin are exactly what we need for reference.
