Hope this helps

Thanks Butler1972, I have asked the bank for details of the account I held back then which the payment came our of (I no longer have the account) & they say they have no record of the account or the loan. Unfortunately I can't find any paperwork regarding this account0

Hi all, after two successes with Egg and Cahoot, I've had my first knock back from Mint. I applied online and said that it wasn't clear whether you were purchasing ppi or not and the charges were not specified on the credit agreement.
They have come back saying that the policy was sold on a "non-advice" basis and they provided full info on the policy at the time of sale.
Has anyone else had this reply? I suspect its a standard "get lost" response and they don't say anywhere that it is full and final - do I write back saying I am not happy with their decision and ask them to reconsider or do I just send it on to the ombudsman and play the waiting game? Any advice would be much appreciated.0 -
Hi All, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on tracing an old loan (10 yrs) that I know had PPI on from Barclays, they have said they cannot trace the account & I even tried the site recommended by our lovely Martin to trace old account that could have money in them but with no joy, anyone have any suggestions please as I do not have the old account number?
))
Hi there
When did you settle the loan?
If this was taken out 10 years ago, can you remember what year you paid this off?
If this was only the last few years, you may be in luck by requesting a Subject access Request (SAR), they have to send all they hold on you going back as far as 5 years if you live in Scotland and 6 years if you live in England or Wales, but saying that with one of mine (lloyds) I was lucky to receive my info going back into the late 90's.
There is a cost of £10 postal order of cheque payment you enclose with the SAR letter and they have 40 days to comply.
If they are unable to supply anything then they must return the payment with a letter of explanation.
SAR letter template letter here:

If you did have the account number then it would have been okay to still make a reclaim, you may find the account number on any old bank statements - shown next to the loan monthly repayment.
If you bank online this should allow you to check your statements going back 6 years, some people said their banks have details from even earlier years.
Going back to the SAR, also give them as much details as possible, if you do not have the account number.
Was the loan taken out with your own bank?
If so then write the bank account number on your SAR letter and they should send everything they hold and details of finance you have taken out with them.
Good luck, and please keep us posted.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hi there
We always get at least one that is most difficult.
That is a standard response, but if this was final move on to the FOS, if not then write back and ask them to reconsider, tell them despite this being a non advised sale they still had a responsibility to make sure you were eligible, any furter info to add then tell them.
Tell them you have been deprived of your money and also state the policy was not sold in yout best interest.
Normally if its the final response they should if eligible send you details of the FOS, and they should at least let you know one way or another if its final.
If not then write to them again as suggested above.;) Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
What were you reclaiming: Credit Card PPI
Who was the provider: Halifax
How much did you get back: £1260
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After 1 letter
I was contacted by a "reclaim your credit card balance" company so thought I would look into it myself. I used the template letter from this site and altered it to suit my situation and sent it off. 2 weeks later and I was telephoned by Halifax and told my complaint was being upheld. a few days later I was contacted again and offered every premium I have paid back. But because the card still exists with a balance on, they say I wont get the 8% I asked for. Is this correct or should I hold out for it??
Thanks for everyones info on here. Very Helpful!0 -

Bit of a downer today, got my second rejection for reclaiming ppi. This time it was from Welcome.
However, just written to LLoyds to get their act together stating why uphold an old loan and reject the latest one when I was citing the same reasons and if it was because different people had assessed the loans they had better get their training procedures sorted (do you think that was a bit harsh lol) as continuity in all things.
So that let a bit of frustration off.
