• What were you reclaiming: PPI
• Who was the provider: Norther Rock
  
• How much did you get back: Over £4k
  
• Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 Letter + 1 Email, sent at same time (seemed to just reply to email as got 'auto' reply the next day - link on northern rock website for complaints)
  
• And then write your brief reclaim tale: Used template from this bleeeedin marvelous site, complaing PPI forced upon me + single premium cover for only 5 years, emailed + sent 1 recorded letter to address for complaints. Got letter saying about review n 8 week deadline etc. Few weeks later had another letter saying signed for PPI on docs but they didn't believe the sale was up to their standards and would setup new loan without PPI for same period on same APR (came through a lower APR bonus!). Would use refund to pay off arrears of approx £1400 restructure current balance of £6k+ to £2.9k and then be refunded £3200 + £1100 in interest! Get in! Few weeks on again received new loan agreement, checked and signed, sent back next day in pre paid envelope. As of yesterday have now got £4k+ in my designated account! Woohoo! Now chasing up my secured loan i had 5+ years ago with Welcome :cool: Wish me luck with that one Good luck to all, you simply must try if they taken money off you they had no right to ask for! :j

Oh 1 other tip for people who come unstuck with having no details on loans paid off or similar! If you have no Account numbers for loans, ccards etc, join up with Credit Expert, they sent me account number through post at no cost to me! ;-) got my details of Welcome Loan thats been closed for 4/5 years through in about a week!

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on tracing an old loan (10 yrs) that I know had PPI on from Barclays, they have said they cannot trace the account & I even tried the site recommended by our lovely Martin to trace old account that could have money in them but with no joy, anyone have any suggestions please as I do not have the old account number? ))

Jobaby - I knew approximately when my loan started so I got copies of my bank statements from the time - I then located a reference number for my loan.

Using this site I have received a refund from Lloyds TSB £2400 from a PPI on a loan after 1 letter and £5300 (yes £5300) from MBNA from ppi on a credit card after 2 letters. Waiting for 2 more responses on other credit cards.

If in doubt give it a try - I can't believe how easy it was using the letter templates on this site.
