  • What were you reclaiming: Loan
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £6,700
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: The Ombudsman

I took a six-year loan out in 2000 and I wasn't asked about my self-employed status on the phone when the loan was arranged. Anyway, after reading on this wonderful website I began a claim to Lloyds in March last year. In my correspondence I quoted someone else from this forum who said that even though the loan had finished more than two years previously it was still within the three-year limit that the FOS suggests is reasonable for a complaint to be made.

LLoyds denied any wrondoing twice, so I went to the Ombudsman. How brilliant are they! After looking into my case (it took most of the rest of last year, but they kept me informed and said there was a serious backlog), I received a letter in January of this year saying that Lloyds had agreed to refund me the £4,200 plus pay another £2,500 in interest.

Great news, but my concern was that because one of my loans with Lloyds is in arrears (by £1500 or so) they would then place the refund into that account. I expressed this concern to the guy from the Ombudsman's office and he said that Lloyds would probably do this. However, he then rang me personally the next day to say that he'd rung Lloyds and they'd said they would pay the money straight into my current account.

    Which they did, this morning.

So thanks to everyone involved. Hang on in there as my case took 12 months from start to finish, but Lloyds actually seemed pretty reasonable in the end.

Who was the provider: Abbey/ santander
How much did you get back: £2738.00
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman:I
sent them a letter and they phoned me

Could not believe how quick this has happened, I took out a loan in 2004 over seven years .I was more or less told if I didnt take out the PPI I wouldn't get the loan, so I did. In 2007 I was checking through our fianances and realized that I didnt need the ppi so I wrote to them and cancelled it.
Recently from reading through your site I thought I give it a go and try and reclaim, I downloaded the letter and sent it off after a week I got a phone call where I had to tell the girl exactly what I had written in the letter, she said that somebody would be in touch within five days then I would get a letter to say whether they would refund or not. Yesterday I got a letter saying that they would refund in full £2738.11.
    Happy days!!
    Thanks Martin

We started the claim back in January last year with Barclays for PPI on a loan he had taken out, Yesterday we got the letter from Barclays Bank saying they are upholding our Claim.

They are paying him back 978.00 Plus 78.00 Interest

    Who was the provider: Egg
How much did you get back: £2013.03
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 letter

    Hi
Many thanks to all on this site especially di3004 who always offers lots of great advice.

My OH had a loan with Egg originally to pay off a few debts, (without PPI) then we topped up the loan to buy a car, the PPI was then added which we couldn't remember asking for. The loan was then paid off in full early after a couple of years. I requested a DSIR back in October and after messing us about for some time, saying they needed some ID, then only sending credit card statements, eventually at the end of Feb I received all the info I needed. We had paid all the PPI for the full term even though we paid off the loan early. My first and only letter was sent on 2nd March and today I received their letter stating our cheque for £2013.03 will be sent within 14 days.

    Many thanks again!!

What were you reclaiming: 3 Loans
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £12001.00
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman:FOS

    Hi there all,

Received a letter this morning from LTSB confirming that the amount of £12001 will be payed into my bank account within 21 days for the previous amounts of PPI that I had paid on the above loans. I still cannot believe it!!! Big celebration this weekend I think.

I would activly encourage all who read these threads who have paid PPI in the past or who are still paying to make a claim against the lenders. This money will seriously change my life.

Thank you to everyone in this forum who has helped me with this claim, epsecially Di3004 and Marshallka, without who's help and advice I would have been lost in the whole claim process. People like these are seriously special. The amount of personal time and patience they donate to the claim cause and MSE in general must be highly comended.

    Many thanks again
